14 Games in. 4th in the Metro. Currently in the first WC. 5 Games in hand on the first place Devils. <--How does that even happen?

Lots of hockey left, but some major concerns already early in the season.

Shesterkin contract. 6-4 on the season. 2.85GAA. 913SV% $11.5 Cap Hit rejected? Since the Kevin Weeks post of $11.5 he has played terrible.

Zibanejad Top 6 Center decent numbers on paper, but on ice is telling a much different story. Can the team win with Mika in 1C, or 2C? Untradeable per the contract. Teams will buy if he became available. Teams always line up for Centers. If somehow he can be traded who would replace him, and who would he waive to? Stamkos? O'Reilly? Zegras? Malkin?

Defense as a whole is bad. Giving Schneider, Jones, Mancini a pass.
Lindgren is tradeable per the contract. If moved, a core piece is moved and a guy who is loved by his teammates. Would that send a message or have a negative effect?
Captain was asked to move his No Trade. Allegedly refused. Last go round for #8. Have to make due.
K'Andre died his hair...and his game died with it. Pending RFA status. No clauses. Maybe the best athlete on the team. 10 Cent head. No fight in the dog. Time to move on from him.
Fox. Where is the Norris caliber defenseman? Seems disinterested. He needs to elevate his game, and he likely will.

Rangers have been blown out 2 times in 3 games letting up 12 goals in those 2 losses.

Team needs more of this... Cuylle Chytil Kakko

Valiquette said yesterday on Real Kyper and Bourne that he wondered if Shesty's awful performance vs the Sabres was related to this. Not the tweet itself, but the fact that the deal was getting closer and thus a distraction.

At first look this team is a shiny red apple with a presidents trophy SKU sticker neatly affixed, but the underside is rotting.

Drury needs to get ahead of this thing and make a deal of some kind much earlier than the deadline.

I dont know exactly what that is, but something revolving around the defense. Problem is, I doubt that it's possible.

Drury lost his balls after the Buch deal.

Everything since has been safe moves

Even signing Igor, when he does.. is the 'safe' move when in reality it's a huge mistake and we cannot saddle ourselves with that cap hit for a goalie.

This probably won't be a popular opinion but if I were Drury, I'd call McFarland and see what the Avs would be willing to give up for Igor. This team isn't winning anything with Zibanejad taking up 8.5M for the next 6 years, full NMC and buyout proof.
The Avs don’t have anything they’d give up to make it worth it.

Also you’re essentially saying “tank for the next 6 years”
That’ll go over real well with the players.

Dubas said everyone is available except #87. What is someone overpays?

Zibanejad, Miller, Othman, Berard 2025 1st

Crosby, either Petterson or Graves.

Crosby, either Petterson or Graves.

If they’re moving Crosby they’ll want longer term projects, mika also probably doesn’t waive. That’s the issue.

If anything I’d move Mika to a team like cbj but I doubt he takes that.

What will Pitt be looking for in return for Pettersson? If we can somehow offload Lindgren….I wouldnt hate the below. Probably the best we’ll get this year.

Miller - Fox
Pettersson - Schneider
Jones - Trouba

Pettersson is another rental looking for a big payday after this season. Graves is an upgrade on lindgren is every measurable way and the salary is a wash. And he is signed. And it is easily moveable in the future if need be. It doesn't need to be a blockbuster. Lindgren for Graves. Trade Trouba in the off-season.

That is the fear I have with Trouba not waiving. I understand him not waiving but I suspect it makes it more likely for other Rangers not to waive as well.

Malkin, Pettersson for Lindgren, Mika 😂
I totally do this and I hate Malkin as much as the next man. I’d even throw in Othmann to get it done - gives us a better shot this year and we get out of Mika’s contract and hopefully extend Petersson if things work out. Mika would never agree tho.

Let the passive aggressive and anonymous criticism begin!

The ole they're in the NHL so they must be right all of the time and you can't disagree since you're not a coach. Considering that at least some teams in the NHL will suck maybe appealing to authority 100% of the time is not the right way to go?
Yeah. I have to say, no matter how bad I think the pilot of my plane is, I do not want any random guys on a message board, with zero piloting experience, taking over for him...

There's a difference between an appeal to authority, and trusting people with experience more than those with none... We all go to specialists for things they have experience with and training in, right?

Can Krieder even jump out of a pool still?
Don't be silly. He just did this during the summer.

You’re comparing exact sciences and technical training to the vague job functions of being a professional coach.

Sure , you need to understand the game, but there’s a lot more to it .

This is like saying there are 32 airlines, a good 10 of them of have pilots that consistenly crash, and then telling us how great they are because they're pilots.

1) Just by virtue of being a coach or a GM DOES NOT mean you're good at either thing. When the Rangers drafted McIlrath fans knew it was a terrible choice, GM still made the pick.

2) We can't run a practice but setting the lineup isn't rocket science. And not mixing up your D pairings when you're one of the best teams, if not the best team in the league doesn't require being a professional. Just not a moron.

3) If we can't question coaching decisions on a message board what can we do? What's the point of being here?

Let’s not compare the two. Trouba had a 15 team no trade.
Mika has a full no move.
Trouba wasn’t asked to waive. Trouba gave the team who had an offer as his “no trade “

There’s a vast difference.
Additionally Trouba is aware that he’s being moved next season.

You cannot force a player to waive his rights.
But you can convince them.

Yes, its analogous, not equivalent...
Your second sentence seems to be agreeing with me.

Anyway, I'm not saying we shouldn't all criticize and discuss whatever we want on here. I'm saying that expecting our opinions to be just accepted as superior to the people doing this for a living is a bit much. Anyone can SAY they know better, but expecting others to just go with it? Nope.

Okay. This is a bit wild. Pilots that consistently crash? That airline is gone immediately. As is that pilot in most cases... ahahahaha. No. What I'm saying is that people are acting like "every plane crash in history involves a pilot, maybe its time we start letting non pilots have a crack at it." Hahahaha.
Anyway, like I replied to Kirk:

Graves is not easily moveable. If Penguins are going to make that trade, what does that tell you when a non-competitive team is willing to take back a UFA and get out of a contract involving Graves?
