Lucic is almost 30. By the time we are competing he can a) walk or b) done and dusted.

We should be getting younger not older.

Ur overrating Draisaitl, he hasn't shown the ability to drive a line yet and he's signed at a HUGE contract.

yeah im not sold on him like the rest of the league the guy is suppose to be a stud center but is always on McDavids wing no? so how do you know he could carry a line or at least produce as high as he does without Connor

Having a group with a lucic and let's say Antoine roussel allows the rest of the team and young players to play a certain way and develop a certain swagger and feel protected doing so.

It's about creating a culture and locker room and team dynamic that allows the young players to grow a certain way. These types can be touchholders and allow the rest of the team to play freeier, more physically.

As mikos says, you guys value some of these guys much higher then the people who see them everyday and Know them know them
 
Yeah instead he's asked to ride shotgun next to mcdavid so they can overload and have an uber-producing line and that's what he provides

It's Edmontons fault he has to be in that spot, not his.

It's crazy to say that kid can't center a #1 scoring line

That's just become HF skeptics theme.

And he's paid that way bc everyone in the league knows he's a 1c behind mcdavid and it was chairelli's only way of locking him up long term. If chairelli tried bridging or lowballing him, draisitl would have just began waiting for a big time offer sheet while already planning his exit route.

Charelli bought time and control with draistil. But I know most fans just see the numbers and take everything at a surface level

They are terrible as constructed. Why wouldn't they do it

Because they are giving up by far the best player in that deal.

I disagree with this... They've tried having him run his own line and it hasn't really worked well... Maybe it's just bad because Oilers have atrocious wing depth, that could be the case, but it's enough of a sample of him underperforming away from McDavid that i'd be cautious trading for him.

It’s 2 more years, but of course a valid question. How do you value him? IMO he has potential to become top 5-10 in the world, rank up there with the McDavids, Pat Kane, Matthews, Crosby, Malkin and the likes. Maybe not top 5, but after that group. I would still assign him a ton of value, but of course not as much as if he was ready to step in.

Further to this — I would like to see how his contract looks. He changed teams and signed with CSKA. Had all the leverage in the world. Didn’t he get an out clause?
 
And Hayes miller and skjei fills out and makes their overall team so much deeper. Closer to rolling 4 good lines as opposed to having mcdavid and draistl on one

One person says it's terrible abysmal for the rangers
Others make it sound like Edmonton is getting bottom6 players back
 
Maybe the reason draistl couldn't carry a 2nd line by himself and the reason they play him with mcdavid is the same. Because they don't have good wingers

Either way I suggested a deal, I've explained how I see it, everyone's opinion valued and wanted

It’s not crazy to say he can’t do something he hasn’t done yet. Yeah he probably can but there’s nitbjt crazy about wanting a guy with that insane a contact to prove he can do what you’d want him to do.
