Galchenyuk's value is so low that the Rangers might be able to get him for Brendan Smith.

Guy's value to GM's around the league is dirt.

But then here’s the thing, if it’s so low why hasn’t he been traded yet? Montreal being stubborn and trying to get his value up?

I could see Bergevin trying to get a guy like Zibanejad if the Rangers are listening on everyone. He's absolutely desperate for a center. Habs fans want a rebuild, but I think he's going to be trying to improve the team down the stretch.

I'd do Galchenyuk and their unprotected 1st as the basis of a deal for Zibanejad. I just happen to have soured on Zib quite a bit though.

If so that in a heartbeat. That 1st is going to be a good player.

I’d also consider Galchenyuk + for Miller.

How about this:

Galchenyuk + Shaw

For

Miller + Smith

Would be interesting, getting that Smith contract off the books would be cool, Shaw for all his flaws would be a 3rd or 4th liner.

It was said that Galy had zero value, not that he had negative value. Smith was just offered for free and no one bit.

I know he gets some heat in Montreal and he isn’t a center, similar to Miller, but the kid puts up points. Someone is going to show some patience with his game and allow him to push offensively and get a 60 point winger.
If we’re gonna trade Hayes or Miller, I’d just rather add to them to get one of the Hurricanes young defensemen or just a good young defenseman from anyone really. Galchenyuk gives me some bad Ribero vibe and I don’t really want to take on and try to straighten out that problem

I think Montreal and Edmonton are two teams who are really unhappy that they're in the basement and would probably be willing to move their first round picks this year for players who can play now. Both GM's are on the hot seat and are primed to make some panic moves.
I think that's true. Would not be surprised if the Rangers target both of those picks at the draft.

i don't think Edmonton moves that pick seeing as they always have an amazing chance at the 1OA they might after the lottery fate is decided in May
