This whole "everybody is on the block" thing Mackenzie is mentioning worries me that the team has literally no plan at all.

If someone like Skjei for example is even being considered to move - there is no plan imo.

Both McKenzie (Bobcast) and Dreger (Insider Trading) have mentioned Kreider.

New clause in the Memo: We will trade young speed, skill and character (and size) to acquire young, speed, skill and character...

KZB needs to stay, we have plenty of Assets to deal

NY Rangers per Bob:

Interpretation of the letter:
They are prepared and will trade the UFA's to be. Will listen on offers for McDonagh, Zuccarello, JT Miller, Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad, Kevin Hayes.

The main thought process is who do they want to really keep around for the long-term. Not a lot of love between some of these guys. Do they want to give long-term deals to guys like Miller and Hayes?

Not a firesale but they are listening.

I don't agree. What if Winnipeg is willing to trade Trouba for Skjei, what if Buffalo is willing to offer their 1st+? You always listen, and consider trades for everyone, you never know who will knock your socks off. Plus, I don't view Skjei as this completely untouchable, foundational piece. He's not like McDonagh at 23, he's a decent defenseman at this point.

Trade everyone over 22 and nuke the roster is not a plan.

First you need a model of the way you want to play, then a coach who can execute that, then you keep whoever fits that, and then you deal the rest, and that can be for futures if you want, but it's like step #4.

If it were going to be broken down to a "core" not including goalies

For me, it looks like:

Andersson
Chytil
Buchnevich
Zibanejad
Hayes
Kreider

Skjei
DeAngelo (eh)

If Pionk plays well enough (I think he has it in him) he can work his way onto the list

I 100% agree with you. But ultimately I actually do hold out hope that they do have a plan like this behind closed doors. I wouldn't expect them to leak it all out (or any of it). Fishing for offers and trade talks is fine, the proof will be in what they actually choose to execute.

Staal and Vesey are not going anywhere. Don't worry

Yeah that's true. Something definitely will happen, but other than that, it's a bunch of talk. There's no indication yet which direction they're going in.

Of course, it IS the Rangers, but I digress.

I don't think TSN has any more inside sources on the Rangers than Brooks and Brooks included Kreider as part of the core

Of the first 5 in your core, two haven’t been in the NHL yet so they are complete mysteries, one is more interested in his looks and lifestyle and scared shitless on the ice, and one is a gigantic stoner straight out of the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High who also is very inconsistent

Most reassuring is they've set values HIGH. Makes sense to listent to anything and everything and make your decisions from there. Still, I just don't see the benefit in trading guys like Zib/Kreider, the likelihood of acquiring something equal to or better are low. They're not aged out of this rebuild (if done properly).

Can I ask why?

Klim Kostin is a good player, I think that range in last year was underrated in that sense. Some good players between 21 and 31. Kostin isn’t anything really really special, but he is very good. The type of pick you could live with if he was picked 15-20 too. Tolvanen is good. Chytil. Thomas is OK.

This x100. "Listening" doesn't equate to "trading." Excited to see what happens, but I don't get the feeling they'll be trading for the sake of trading here.

Stop listening to the talking heads that just get random blurbs and transform it into sensationalist clickbait

Ehhh, I trust McKenzie and Friedman enough. Dreger or anyone else, not so much

I think it's likely teams are calling to ask if he's available, I don't think the Rangers are big on trading Kreider right now. He's been injured for awhile, coming back from a serious health issue, value just doesn't seem like it'd be very high
