I wouldn’t slam an entire book shut after a failed chapter or two. Nor would I use 1 scenario that didn’t pan out and ridicule someone.

Fact is, there’s probably a ton of movements that come close to happening, and end up getting foiled for various reasons.

Your incredibly critical towards someone that actually possesses real sources in the league, and has always been a gentleman on these boards.

Bravo.

Here's where I'm coming from:

In June I hear from him: "I'm connected and I'm local and I'm saying Stepan would get Strome/Dvorak+Crouse+7th from Arizona because Tippett is tired of losing and is calling this shot".
--First thing I did was shit my pants and lose my mind.
--Then the reality is that Stepan gets just the 7th and Tippett is dismissed because not only isn't he calling shots but they don't even want him around.
^ That's fine. I didn't come back at that point and try to be "incredibly critical" (I take issue with that categorization, by the way, as well as the intimation that I've "ridiculed" anyone) toward the guy. I'm good with all of that.

In February I hear "I'm connected and I'm local and I'm saying Strome is fool's gold"
--Then rather than shitting my pants and losing my mind I'm saying, "Forgive me for taking that with a grain of salt"
--The reality is still up in the air.
^ Do you honestly fault me for that. Fool me once and shame on you. Fool me twice and shame on me.

I'm glad he's gentlemanly and I could certainly stand to improve the way I comport myself around here. I'll concede all of that. But I think it would be a little wrong headed of me to not at least question the veracity of the 'I'm connected and I'm local and I'm saying..." narrative at this point? Don't you agree?

Do it on your own board.

Yeah, and in a sense Lias is in that mold too. Think those in two together would be two very solid pieces in place. Keep Kreider. That is three great character players in place. Leaders in their own way.

Dreger has always been terrible but lately he's gone off the deep end as with Elliott Freidman and most people from TSN .the bobfather and Brooks only two with any real insight for us lately

Am I crazy for hoping we move Hayes? I think he’s the odd man out with Mika, Chytil & Andersson. Especially if we’re landing a young center like Howden in a McDonagh deal. I’ve never loved Hayes, he’s had a decent season but he’s so inconsistent and a pretty lazy player. He seems like he has no pulse sometimes, I want both him and Miller gone

I think he's had a pretty good year on a gongshow team. Improved so much defensively.

Nothing wrong being deep down the middle. There is room for say Howden (assuming we acquire), Ziba, Hayes, Lias, Mika and Chytil. We can move someone to the wing.

He is vetted and provides good information. If something turns out wrong you don't bite the hand that feeds you. I value the rumors and information.

I think of all the forwards who are currently on the team, he is the one guy who has exceeded expectations for me.

He looks to be developing into a pretty decent matchup center. Untouchable he is not, but I'd rather keep him.

This is the problem with "tank and get picks, picks, picks" mindset.

You are hoping this rebuild only takes 2-3 years. Maybe less depending on who you draft, how development goes include the speed of it, etc, while also retaining veterans in free agency such as Nash. Kreider will still be valuable 2-3 years from now. At the same time if you move him, as said above, how do you know you will be able to draft a replacement. It is not easy to come by a player of Kreider's physical ability and skillset.

Stupid to trade Kreider.

If he’s spoken with 10 teams already that’s a good sign for the expected return, no?

Yes that is good news. Remember that Nash is very well liked around the league. You don’t want to make big disruptive changes unless you have a super strong core, like a Pittsburgh might gamble on a E Kane type but most teams won’t consider it. Every coach knows that if you ask Nash to do whatever he will do it. Not disrupt a locker room etc. He is a good rental for sure.

I think we can get a good young player for Nash (Tolvanen?). People will see him as a Marian Hossa type of add. Hossa always helped the teams that got him.

Ask Ranger fans who would you rather have now? D'Angelo or Strome and/or Dvorak? What I said at the time was that if Tippett was making the deal, he would move Strome. The front office wouldn't. I've also had a chance to watch him through training camp, his NHL trial and a couple of AHL games. And as I have maintained all along, the Rangers got nowhere near equivalent value for Stepan.
At what point am I allowed to cock an eyebrow when you play the "Trust me about the Coyotes..." card? I think the skepticism is merited at this point, no?

I agree with you chimp, and I further it, that having said whatever you've said. You can go back to the 'yotes board and posturize. I've seen your posts over the years. It's not about hockey discussion with you, it's about out debating and sounding like your schooling and cheeking people. Go enjoy your team

I assure you that nobody is enjoying my team, other than their opponents and the fans of their opponents. :) As far as hockey discussion, that's what I was attempting to engage in diplomatically with @Alluckks and even with @bobbop (although I will concede I did a poor job of that, and ruffled feathers over my initial reply to him are justified). Alright, I've reached a point of derailing. @rt if you want to talk about Zibanejad to Arizona, or stop by our board. Apologies to @bobbop if I offended.

Maybe. Maybe not.

If someone’s offering you the 4th overall pick, then there’s something to think about.

And maybe I’m crazy, but I’ve always had higher expectations from Kreider. I’m not disregarding what he’s accomplished, nor am I dumb enough to assume he’s easily replaceable.

It ultimately depends on his value. I would listen to the offers. And if the return fits the direction we should take this team, then so be it.

Pittsburgh fans on here really want JT. But does the actual team need him?

Pens fans are obsessed with finding a guy they can staple to Crosby's wing. Sprong and Simon have been alright there but there's some talk that Sully is not a fan of Sprong and doesn't trust him. There's some history there with Miller, but I think they'll probably add a guy like Cullen and call it a day.

I'd love Sprong and their 1st though.

I didn’t mean to, but out of all those first rounders, with the exception of Dahlin, what are the chances you get another Kreids?

I completely understand where you’re coming from. And I don’t entirely disagree.

Kreider is 26. He’ll still be effective in 2 years. Or 3. Or 5. I’m just open to the idea of moving him if the return is overwhelming.
