Yes, I would do that.

Hayes has improved his well-rounded game this year but I still don't believe his skillset fits with the rest of the team, or the vision of how Gorton wants the team constructed. Furthermore, we should hopefully be flush down the middle with Zib, Chytil, Andersson.

When Galchenyuk is used on wing, is it LW or RW?

LW I believe. Might be a nice deal for both teams to make. Hayes gets more of an opportunity and the Rangers bring in a high-skilled young winger. Back-fill the spot

Kreider Zib Buch
Galchenyuk Chytil Zucc
Nash Andersson Kovalchuk
Tkachuk Nieves Fast

I like what you're thinking, but damn is that C depth brutal.

Galchenyuk Chytil Zucc
Nash Bozak Kovalchuk

2nd and 3rd line can be moved around. Chytil seemed to have good chemistry with Zucc in his time here.

We have been linked to Bozak in rumors before - 2 years at 4.5 per year

if the confidence is high that chytil is ready next year then i like this move, despite AG's inflated contract - maybe he becomes worth it. But, i would not rush whoever we pick with that high pick. Rather resign grabner to play the 4th line or komarov or roussell or someone like that. No need to drop a rook thats not a super talent into a reshuffled deck - rather, come back the following year with wahtever other 1st rounders we get this year and suddenly have a young skilled team with some solid then-vets (kreid, buch, nash, extra 4th liner, etc.)

I left Vesey off, so you could plug him there

What about instead of Using a Nash or a Grabner to add picks, you tell a team they can have them for considerably fewer assets but they have to take Staal or Smith? Obviously you lose out on the picks but the future looks brighter without either of their two contracts and bad play weighing down the team. Is there a precedent for this?

I just have a reluctance to put Andersson or Chytil on the 4th line playing a mere 10-12 minutes a night.
Oh I don’t blame you, but I just think their needs to be some layer of sheltering and a fallback option to insulate those two. I also don’t want to trade both Miller AND Hayes. Pick one to keep and explore a trade for the other

We would end up having to pay a team with picks or prospects for then to take staal or Smith and I'm not sure staal is going to waive his NMC

We still don't know Staal's status. He could be back in a day or two or we may never see him again. Smith's term is killer and he's playing Igor Ulanov bad now.

That is more along with lines of what I was thinking. Bozak can be a 2C if absolutely needed. He is good on faceoffs and can provide some offense. He'd be a good 3C if Chytil or Andersson are going well. Have the Chytil and Andersson lines play equal amounts of ice time

Keep Hayes, play one of Lias or Chytil on the wing for a season, maybe let them rotate... Then have both at C full time whenever they're ready to both be top 9 C's for real.
