Is Jagr the greatest European player of all time?

OV isn’t European, Russia is considered mostly a part of Asia.

Who told you that? If it was your teacher, he/she should get 5 min major for bullshitting... Russia is mostly Europe, every Russian will agree. Eventhough Russia is divided between Europe and asia

To the topic

1) Hasek (gretzky in the net )
2) Jagr - (AINEC, you’ve had to see it to believe it - sort of marios kind of dominance)
3)Datsyuk (whatever you think about it - my bias)
4) Ovechkin (f***in freight train, absolute beast)

68 hangs in my closet for a reason..There was a year when him and Mario were head to head for the scoring title..1997 I think..It was amazing..Kurri had 99 handing the rock to him..Jagr was a force

It's a 3 way race between Jagr, Hasek and Ovechkin.

I used to always say Jagr, but I think Ovechkin is getting close. I personally slot Hasek 3rd, but I know some will have him higher.

Datsyuk might be the most overrated player of all time.

Moscow is Europes largest city

Saw a video this morning of him going shopping for first time when coming over. All he wanted was the Canadian tuxedo🤣

Whole video was funny especially when his handler says he doesn’t speak English

Cmon Makarovs career in NHL wasnt to impressive, which was the question...

so this stat is better than Ovi?
424 134 + 250 = 384
LOL!
Uhh... He joined the NHL in his 30's.

But more importantly you have to watch a documentary called "the Red Army" to understand his contribution to hockey, and why Russia was so dominant in International competition.

They never played "lines" or matchups.

The Soviets played in 5-man units. They didn't play designated positions like Winger, or defense. They just switched it back forth up down, etc.

These Soviets woke up in a barracks at 6am and trained all-day-night all-year together as a 5-man unit as a part of the Soviet Army team. They basically learned to play with each other by developing a 6th sense of where each other were on the ice.

The older soviets that defected early didn't easily adapt to play a singular position or a rigid system that required them to be in 1-zone or "neutral zone trap". It wasn't until Scotty Bowman reunited a Russian Unit that we saw the Soviet style absolutely dominate again.

Over the next 2 decades coaches started to dissect What the f*** was happening, and how they were able to do this. And this has now turned the entire NHL into the puck-posession style game we often see today.

Incredible movie:

Greatest winger of all time

Ovechkin easily surpasses Jagr with getting the all time lead in goal scoring IMO

I hate this logic.

Ovechkin is 9 goals away. He's either great enough to surpass Jagr today, or he isn't - +/- 9 goals makes no difference.

For the record - I think Ovechkin is amazing, and just said above that both him and Jagr are close. But 9 career goals shouldn't matter.
