Elliotte Friedman said Edmonton is looking for wingers and he brought up Kreider. The hockey analytics guy Dom thought the Oilers would suck this season. I would take the Oilers 1st rounder in 2018. Will Edmonton be a playoff team? That pick will be a potential lottery pick. ...
I'd like it too, but I don't see them overly eager to offer it in payment. And Kreider is worth way, way more. The deal here is Nash reduced + Grabner + Gettinger
for
Pul [who it was pointed out has only 1 further elc] + cap dump Fayne and a conditional 2018 Oiler 1st. This way, if our guys don't produce, we still have a decent piece, and if Nash + Grabs do 40 gs or better, we also get a 1st.
Kreider to EDM is an over the top move for them. If Chris actually skates hard... next to McDavid... that's going to drive defenses crazy. I thought about this just the other day, it would be a good move for the Rangers to move on.
PuJu has good potential... but he's maybe another year-2 away... the game he plays... he needs to fill out to be effective. Also the knock on Puju is that he doesn't engage on the walls. Size, speed, skill is there. It's better to take the 4th overall from 2016 plus package Kreider with defensemen to get picks from them.
If Kreider is involved, it has to be him + for LeoDrai +.
The Rangers should send their entire front office and scouting staff to go look at Puljujarvi in Bakersfield,California.
There is a deal to be made with Edmonton because they need a winger.
Yes, but it is a crapshoot, so like I said, vets Nash + Grabner. Pulju + is not worth a known Kreider.
You can argue if it was a good trade or not for our club, I personally would not have traded 3 young/prime guys for one at the time.
Regardless of whether it would've been a good trade for NYR, it was totally unrealistic for both teams and had NO CHANCE IN HELL of EVER happening, much like ALL of your proposals.
Nope. If it was good enough for both teams at the time it was realistic. It clearly was for NYR, and arguably was for EDM back then also.
RNH + Jesse Puljujarvi and 2nd round pick for Kreider and Nash(50% retained)....
No on multiple levels, both what was said previously in this thread and as to do not want RNH who at best is a slightly improved Stepan. A gazillion times no.
Shipachev for Tambellini and Graves
Nope, b'c we may well need Graves who I suspect is good+. Tambo and conditional pick(s) based on performance. Also want them to eat part of Shipmeister, and/or take back a cap dump.
I...We need talent, plain and simple. Kreids is ... with talent, and shipping him off when we clearly have a coaching problem doesn’t make sense to me.
I don’t believe any of this country club talk, and we never discuss the middle area between having a dictator like Torts/Ruff and a hands-off guy like AV. Great coaches like Laviolette and Babcock do both.
Concur fully
Maybe its the name, nationality, and position, but Puljujaarvi just constantly brings me back to the disasters that was Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson.
No sense in it, just seems weirdly comparable in career tracks so far.
Pulju is a gamble, an unknown quality. That's fine if he is a throw in; it is not fine if he is a core piece.
You are mortgaging a big part of the future and our best defender to create a 1 line team which doesn't work in today's NHL.
Total disagree.
If we could get MacK for those pieces, then as I noted:
Kreider-Boo-MacK = most dominant line
Miller-Reinhart-Zib = why is that not also an awesome line?
Chytil-Hayes-Vesey = very solid for a 3rd line
4th line, fine, we can improve.
Your allegation is wrong on its face.
Theoretical question, would you rather see Gorton trade Zuccarello or Kreider assuming the same return.
Zuc.
As others noted, Kreider would be harder to replace + wanna stay ahead of the contract renewal = more cap curve. Zuc gets extended earlier, and we can't afford it.
