Waived: [WSH] F Jakub Vrana waived by the Capitals

My dream is the bruins ... I don't think he gets claimed at all though. Off to Hershey and creates a bit of cap space for TDL for Caps. Hope I'm wrong.

I've literally talked to a media member of Grand Rapids about this. (No I'm not naming them, if you don't believe it I don't care) He got sent down and promptly shipped out because he was pissed about being sent to PAP in the first place and didn't take it seriously at all.

His defense sucks... It's not the only reason he washes out of every organization he's in.
Yeah this has nothing to do with the PAP and everything to do with how he plays in his own zone. The Capitals knew the player and did their homework. They had a strong, veteran dressing room and brought him back into the fold. They wouldn’t have brought him back if he was still a shithead

Devils should put in a claim . They need to add but doesn’t make sense to use assets with Jack out on LTIR the rest of the year. Devils need to make the playoffs but they are not doing any damage without Jack . This is a move that makes sense . Hold onto Nemec and picks . Take a long shot on Vrana and hope yuu can hold off CBJ / DET etc and save assets be use this season is a wash now .

I wouldn't mind seeing a team early in its rebuild take this guy on to score some goals -- and contribute to a fair number of goals against in the bargain. Something for the fans, and something for the tank.

Good guy, and a good citizen this year. His defensive game is just not there and the Caps are unexpectedly too good a team this year to look the other way.

One of those guys I'd actually be surprised to see clear.

Easily someone in the West bubble picks him up - he's 29, on a 1-year sub-million dollar cap hit and can still skate. That's easy maths for teams like Calgary, Vancouver, etc.

Feels weird that he wouldn't be returning even a fourth round pick in a trade vs. getting waived, though. From everything I've read here he's not an absolute total detriment to the team, more of a "he is who he is" at this point.

The only things he lacks is character and discipline and that's what is holding him back. Got the skillsets but doesn't take it seriously, even when it matters the most for his career. Don't take the bait and claim him, let this one go.

Vrana hasn't played in forever, and it's unlikely he would get a sweater soon. With Milano inching towards returning and the possibility of an addition at the TDL, this isn't shocking. Still a bummer.

Didn't he just play against the Blues last week?

He did and I totally missed it.lol

Like others have said, Vrana is still a great goal scorer, but his deficiencies in other aspects of the game will always limit his ability to be a consistent night in and night out top of the lineup guy.

More in regards to next season, but I think a team like the Penguins should try to sign him. Maybe playing with a guy with Crosby's work ethic and leadership will prompt him to put in that extra effort. Put him on Crosby's wing and he could be easily be a 30+ goal scorer, then trade him to the highest bidder at next year's deadline.

I definitely heard his name watching the game, but didn't realize he hadn't been playing much. Now that I look at his game log, I see it was his first game in almost two months. Credit to him for sticking with it, but he's been destined for Europe for a long time.
He has NLA written all over him at this point. Sucks. Taken before pasta in round one and it just didn't work out.

He’s scored some timely goals and has converted on 25% of his shots. He’s the only player in the NHL with 3 Game Winning Goals in under 30 Games Played and that’s with less than 10 minutes a game. He’s better than Mangiapane and makes 1/6th of his salary.
