Tuch would certainly be a better fit for the wonder twins than Kakko. He's faster and better off of the rush, which is all Kreider and Zibanejad are willing to do since they don't forecheck or cycle. Kakko would excel on a strong grinding/cycling line.

thats a team that has no clue what they're doing with their defense. Dahlin is good because he has the natural ability to be at least that. On a different team he would have probably been a mega star by now.

I think the question is star in what way? offense blossom? I think he can he a very effective player in the short term but he will be more of an analytic darling than a dynamo standout star player.

either way, I think you are right that outside of buffalo he takes a bigger step, funny to say though with how many young player people say the same thing about regarding nyr and some of their kids

Here’s the thing Ryan Lindgren has stopped being physical. He’s taking way more of a beating than he is dishing it out. He’s easy to play against now. He used to be a pain in the ass. He’s small and he’s a punching bag. There is nothing nothing good about this player at this point. He’s a shell of who he was.

Mika and Kreider certainly need a guy that can skate.

If this gets crazy and Vatrano can’t happen I’d seriously consider duclair.

The whole basis of your statement, which is incorrect, is that Kreider and Zibanejad are a terrible combo. I don't particularly like them together either, but in terms of goal-based metrics, they're not. They score, and outscore opponents, somehow. Unless Kakko is on the ice.

Idk, maybe it's just one line, and that's all it is, but there's enough evidence to suggest that Kakko is causal to that line not scoring and he shouldn't be on it.

kakko really has become a black hole offensively for a lot of skilled players. it is so weird looking at him too bc in so many ways he looks like the same player today that he was that first season. he is almost useless on the rush

no argument from me, but the point is we do not have the defensive depth right now to have him rest. I brought this up so long ago, but if you take him out of this d right now then it will implode on itself with pairings. we have needed defensive depth and help all year. relying on Jones in anyway is a fallacy

Chychrun for Lindgren has been discussed multiple times as the basis for a deal.

If we look seriously at the lineup at forward, say the Rangers can acquire a RW who fits with Kreider and Zibanejad, that pushes Vesey down and Rempe likely out of the lineup. The 4th line would then be Vesey-Goodrow-Edstrom.

People want an upgrade at 3C, which I get somewhat but if that happens do you take Brodzinski out of the lineup? Do you push him down and play him with Goodrow and Vesey as his wingers?

They need adults in the room and have none. Built like a video game team, all the young talent in the world, reams of HF approved forwards, and will suck forever just like Ottawa.

Literally only vets on the team are Jeff Skinner and Kyle Okposo. Not exactly a murderers row of leadership. Desperately need to 2 for 1, or 3 for 1 for a slightly past prime vet or two to show them how to show up instead of following goofy ass Tage Thompson.

Separately, Bern, I thoroughly you enjoy you suggesting trades where NYR get 200 cents on the dollar, and then dismissing one where they get 300 cents on the dollar.

Taking Kakko out of the argument for now, the issue with Kreider and Zibanejad right now is that regardless of their analytics they're just not doing enough 5v5 for a "top line" any longer. Third line? Sure. But we're hinging a lot of hopes on these guys actually producing some results at some point to get this team somewhere and they're just...not doing so at the level they need to be regardless of who their linemate is.

I don't think there's a magic bullet "put this guy with them and they'll take off" solution either. Great that they're not a liability overall but they're not doing enough to make their cap hit and usage line up with what the team needs them to be doing.
