I don't think so anymore. Should get a 2nd at a minimum.
Yup.
We can hope for a first, but a 2nd is closer to historical prices for bottom 6 C. Adding a 3d or a 4th would be nice.
I expect if moved Hughes will look at 2027 picks, as we have plenty in the short term.

Logic dictates the Habs won't get a 1st. But then Hughes transcends logic and inevitably gets one...

I always get burned when second guessing the Habs.

i think a 1st isn't out of the question, especially if more pieces are added. Evans is a very good very affordable player. He would make any contender better

They got young players coming up to take their place
Yes!........and no..
I think we can fairly say that Beck will take a 3C or 4C seat for the habs in the future and Mailloux should get a spot at RD at some point, which would fill both holes created by those departures.

however, neither are able to do as much or more than these players at this exact moment. Mailloux should bring more than Savard eventually, but right now, his D play is way behind. Beck supposedly is like an Evans with more offense - but how many years does it take for him to reach Evans, who is now in his prime?

It isn't just a matter of getting rid of aging folks in favor of young ones and its not just popping a youngster in a position where you project he will be throughout his career and expect the same results right now as the one who you are replacing. There are cases where keeping that old fart in place and giving the young fart #1 minutes in laval is better.

I'll mention especially that those two (Evans and Savard) are great examples of professionals that kids should aspire to be like. That's a lot of positiive leadership to take out of the lockeroom at once.

He has 4 points in his last 20 games, so he hasn't done any favors to increase his value lately. A 1st round pick for him... I wouldn't pay it.
At the same time, Hughes is not getting calls for the points Evans puts up; its all about the defensive missions he is on. He is succeeding on a team that is (arguably) not.

That said, i didnt realize it before now, but Evans is 2 points from his career high with 25 games left.

This dip in production should help lowerthe caphit the Habs will re-sign him with! ;)

I would be interested in Evans in Anaheim. Not sure if I would do a second. Maybe if he was resigned. You can have Lundestrom or Leason back if you want.

The thing is that the team that will trade for Evans will want to upgrade on the faceoff dot, PK and have a good shutdown center that can play in any situation. Evans is a dream player for the coaches but the most boring player to the fans. If you ask a coach if he would pay a late 1st for him, they would say absolutely. I am not saying he is worth a 1st but that the coaches love this type of players

Even after the huge cold streak he’s still shooting 19% with a career high on ice SH%. I don’t see him bringing back a 1st with how few are even owned by contenders at the deadline. He’s likely a 4th liner on a good team.

Even more boring yet effective is Dvorak. Watching him play is like watching paint dry, yet he's reasonably effective.

All signs point toward Evans being traded for a 2nd round pick and an “nhl” ready or close to ready player.

I don’t know, I feel like we should push to get a first round pick. At least those can be flipped at the draft for young NHLer who can help us next year
