At practice today.

Kreider - Zib - Roslovic
Panarin - Trocheck - Laf
Cuylle - Wennberg - Kakko
Vesey - Goodrow - Rempe

Gustafsson - Fox
Miller - Schneider
Jones - Ruhwedel

Why is Brodzinski getting scratched when it should be that bum Kreider?
Because you don't punish a vet with Kreider's attributes and history and production by scratching him and making the media pay attention to him (see Couturier, Sean). You run him an extra 20 minutes of hard skating at the end of practice and keep it in house.

Because lavi isn’t tort?

I was being sarcastic. Kreider is my favorite!

Yeah it was sarcasm.

There really isn't an easy matchup possible outside of maybe Detroit if that shakes out.

Which team did I name isn't good at clamping down the middle? Maybe Colorado who has Team Canada caliber talent?

It's the playoffs. Tampa is firmly in the bottom half of teams that will be there.
They are tried, true and battle tested.

Confidence wise, I’d rather face anyone in the eastern conference… Florida included. Maybe it’s ptsd. Maybe they just have our number

I still think we can beat them but they make me the most nervous out of anyone

My personal worry factor chart for the East, in order of pant shitting:

Clean undies
Washington
Philly
Detroit

Shart streak
Toronto
Carolina

Soiled
Tampa
Boston

Just throw them away
Florida

This should be in its own thread

yea i think we can win a series against philly in 5. a tampa series is going 7.

That’s just stupid. I hope you’re joking. Hard to tell with some of the nitwits around here

The point is to have as easy a road as possible. I'd rather play a team that we are likely to beat in 5 or six games. I doubt we would get by Tampa easily. This team has shown that they run out of gas when they have difficult first and second round series.
When the rangers last made the finals, they were the first team ever to make it there playing the maximum.

Whether it is due to the grueling effects of more games, or indicative of overall team quality, this is true of every team.

For whatever reason I'm not 'scared' of Florida. They're a good team and it'd probably be a great 7 game series.

Not scared of Boston. Tampa though.... imo our kryptonite

I’ve got bad feelings about Tampa and (to a lesser extent) Carolina. Not particularly worried about anyone else. Boston is Loser Point darling and Toronto is Toronto. Florida is very good but I think the Rangers match up well against them.

Rangers matchup well against Carolina too imo. Doesn't mean it's a slam dunk but our game for whatever reason is a good match for whatever CAR has going on. TBL, not so much. They are chaos. You are never "safely ahead" against them. It's hell

The rangers made it there because we got carried by hank going godmode.
We couldn't score.

When we made our run 2 years ago, we went 7 twice. And by tampa we were banged up and worn out.
Theres a fine line between too much rest and too many long series.

I am. Barkov is a major step up from Zibby.
Barkov is fantastic, and Florida does scare me, but Bob is so streaky. I think its entirely possible they get bounced because he somehow cant stop a puck for 4 straight games.

The NHL projects league revenue to be about $6.2B this season. Cap expected to go up by more than $1M dollars for first time since before the COVID19 pandemic.

Someone (or people) on here can correct/clarify this for me, but the NYR still have a tight squeeze on the cap for next year without a significant subtraction (Trouba-NTC; Lindgren; etc; uncertainty with Chytil's return; possible LTIR?). Laf due an extension. Igor might be next year. Kakko playing better; he'll want a raise. Not to mention which UFAs do you bring back? Obviously some of this depends on how they do in the playoffs.

If Chytil is on LTIR, we have roughly 16 mil to work with. If he isn't, then about 12 mil.

We have 17 players under contract for next season, 18 including Chytil.

Lindgren, Kakko and Schneider need new contracts. We have enough money for them, and to fill the remaining spots with prospects, regardless of what happens with Chytil.

Lack of certainty on Chytil could keep us from doing anything else. If we re-sign Wennberg or Roslovic, and use LTIR space to make it work, we could have issues if Chytil comes back mid-season. Hopefully we'll have a good idea of where he is at by July.

Rangers should construct next year’s roster under the assumption that Chytil will spend the entire season on LTIR, and figure it out from there.

So, if the cap is 87.5 mil, and we use LTIR to spend 91 mil, what do we do if Chytil comes back mid-season? How do we figure it out?

It’s kind of sucks but since he’s already on the cap, you have to pencil him in as 3C until you know he’s a def no go…..
I’m sure it will be later then team/management like but def before the season starts.
Edstrom should be the teams 4C to start next year.
Berard might force his way on in training camp…..
Rosolivic making 4 mill ain’t gonna happen. On next years team… it will be a wheeler type signing/Berard and if that doesn’t work it will be addressed at next TDL again.
Depending on his finish, I think Kakko prob gets a 1-2 year deal. His agent will prob want 1 tbh…
The main questions/moves in the offseason are Goodrow and possibly Trouba.
I still don’t see Lindgren going anywhere.
At least def not next season.

TBD. I just feel like teams around the league seem to always find a way to unload salary when they need to, without too much pain. I’m more worried about a scenario where they build around Chytil at 3C and he’s in and out of the lineup with injuries with unknown timetables and they will have to trade assets to backfill his spot anyway.
