Philly reminds me of the Ottawa matchup in 2012.

The talent isn't that impressive on paper but we would never leave our zone.
Tampa feels like it has better chances of being a shorter series than Philly would be. Philly would be a grind, just like the Ottawa series was in 2012. Screw that.

For whatever reason I'm not 'scared' of Florida. They're a good team and it'd probably be a great 7 game series.

Not scared of Boston. Tampa though.... imo our kryptonite
Florida gets me because they went to the final last year and Bob is back.

When you get a team thats had a taste they know they can take it all the way

Plus, they are a pretty complete team

If you're not scared of Florida but you're scared of Tampa, I don't even know what to say.

Florida is better at literally everything.
Sure but the only way we’d play Florida is the ecf, where everyone is bruised and it’s a war of attrition.
Tampa is potentially round 1. A far more immediate concern.

We're 2-1 against Tampa.

We beat them 5-1 in Tampa and 3-1 at the Garden in a game where they only had 19 shots.

We have to play somebody.

We do. I’d rather it be the 8 seed.

And regular season record is not really a great indicator for post season matchups, especially for a vet team like tampa. They’ll take a step once the playoffs start, now I can’t say if that’ll be enough to get over their shredded depth but that top core is still scary.

Not to mention the last loss down in Tampa where they got shucked was the Rangers 3rd game in 4 nights and 4th in 6.

They also had a 2 goal lead after 1 and their legs fell off.

Tampa bothers me because of all the history of winning and some very good players can be difference makers on that team, but there is a reason why they are fighting for a playoff spot.

While i dont want us to lose games. I wouldn't mind falling to metro 2 spot.

Metro 1 is going to play tampa. Metro 2 plays philly, or whatever else bad team manages to squeak in.

Let carolina have a blood bath with tampa.

I firmly believe that Metro 1 this year is not a good thing.
how about beating the bruins and panthers and winning the conference to play WC2?

People just want it to be easy. It's not going to be.

Even mid ass Detroit would take whoever they played 6 or 7 games, most likely. That's just how the league is.

Ideally would love to win the conference, but looking at it, Carolina has such a cupcake schedule the rest of the way. The Rangers schedule opens up after Colorado, but if Carolina is ahead before then, they may not be able to catch them.

When it comes to opponents, I don't think any team has a distinct advantage on the Rangers outside of maybe Florida, but the easiest matchup is whoever is getting that last spot. Doesn't really matter who we get though for R1, just need to make sure that it isn't the classic Rangers 7 game series in R1.

I just don’t want to play the islanders. I can’t handle that

Maybe the stat guys can post a list.....but which of our forwards draws the most PP chances for us ? Surely there is a stat for it ?

you just know that series would go 7 even though it should be 5. My heart wouldnt be able to handle it

I just dont see that happening, the panthers will probablh hold on.

But hey, i would love for that to happen too.

But getting metro 1 and not winning the conference is the worst spot to be in.
Lets see how the next two games go. The opportunity is there…

It is just not super confident we can get above florida. Also if we lose to the Bs tonight that puts a big ding in it.

There are 12 games left.

If we go 8-4 and carolina goes 10-2, i wont exactly be crying.

I dont want us to stumble into the PO’s, but if we are overtaken by CAR while still playing good. Im not going to be upset.
