Not sure if this belongs here, but I was listening to NHL station on Sirius this morning and they started to review the NYR-BOS game.

First sentence was that "The Rangers had a tall order going against the Bruins as Boston looks to challenge for the Presidents Trophy" or something to this affect.

Not sure who actually said it but it was Laughlin or Maderaz (spelling is off)

Do these guys not care to pay attention to the teams in the NHL.

I understand if some rando douche from ESPN makes that mistake, but these are dedicated NHL radio guys.

Are the Rangers and what they have done, year to date, ignored tjat much?

I hope so, would rather be the underdog.

Nah media just loves to glaze New England sports to no end. Boston winning the Cup in 2010 (and being alive at the same time as the Patriots dynasty), being strong perennial playoff contenders, and their historic regular season keep them on the "This Team Is Always Really Good" pedestal. Losing their top players but still being top of the league is another thing. I feel like NY teams are always compared against the 90s/00s Yankees - It's expected for an NY team to be the best because mOnEy.

It's probably not worth throwing a bunch of money at him but I am impressed by how much Rozslovic has helped the Mikka line look at least competent 5v5. I think he's just confident, doesn't defer to them all the time, likes to carry the puck and set things up, and has a clue on how to forecheck a bit and regain the puck, create a cycle, etc. He's quick and shifty and seems to add something there that no other player has thus far.

Wennberg also looks solid, just great anticipation on how to disrupt the other teams breakout, etc. It's tempting to say if you only kept one of them, keep Wennberg and see if Chytil returns move him to Zibanejad's wing. He's not as shifty and confident as Roslovic but he has some of those attributes that might help that line out.

That said, the Rangers probably won't sign either of them.

Nice win last night.

I need to eat some Crow on Zac. He's looked excellent. I hyped him after the draft, then pooped on him for the last 2yrs.

Still frustrated with Kaapo..

Loving Schneiders play in an expanded role.

Bread is just stoopid at this point.

Quick resigning, giving Garand more time, is a nice move by Drury.

Liked the Chelmar signing.

Laba next?

Wennberg and Roslovic are fine players for rentals but they are fools gold. Don't fall for that trap.

We need upgrades.
Hopefully Berard/othmann can be a long term cheap solution in house for wing…..
Chytil being up in the air and signed really sucks, now they have to play the waiting game at center whether they want to sign someone or explore the trade market.
BMB is a ways of still, maybe 2 years plus… so internally there’s no cheap solution for that……
Getting zibby going again is going to be key to the teams success. He’s always streaky but when he was Hot, he was red hot. That’s become fewer and far between.
Trading him and bringing in an upgrade seems like a mountain of a task with yrs/NMC and the team being good and should continue to be.
Should be pretty interesting how the FO proceed….
Top of the offseason list should be moving Goodrow s cap hit and making a decision on Trouba.

ESPN being in Connecticut for so long has contributed to the media loving Boston so much

Always. And the reality is that we still are. We are not viewed as a top challenger. Before the season it wasn't just Biz that picked us to either miss the playoffs or finish in the 7th or 8th spot. If you're gonna win, you need a chip on your shoulder.

We are definitely under the radar based on where we sit in the standings, but that's kind of how we went through the deadline.

Wennberg and Roslovic aren't Guentzel and Kuznetsov. They aren't even Tarasenko. The two teams that made the under the radar moves were the Rangers and Tampa and I think both are benefiting tons from it.

After tomorrow's game, I won't need to see much more from the roster. The Colorado game will be a nice test, but that's a long ways away.

A win tomorrow and the Rangers will have beaten every cup contender in the East within a 10 day span during a taxing time of the schedule. It'll all be about health going in.

If Laf can hit 50 (and he should), it will be the first time since 00-01 that 6 Rangers have finished the season with 50 or more points.
Kind of crazy that the 00-01 team only managed 33 wins and finished 4th in the Division (they also used 6 goaltenders...)

Roslo is here for a good time, not a long time. He's the next Copp or Vatrano. Fans can want to trade for him in a couple years, but we don't need to re-sign him. We have wings for days in the org.

Wennberg might be a fit, though. His expected cost is super reasonable, and if Chytil comes back, one of them can play with 20-93. The other is 3C. Buys some time for BMB or the next C we draft. I'm not sure Edstrom is a 3C, but love him as a 4C.

Otter or Berard should fill a slot out of camp. If Fil's out, both can.

If Goodrow is moved, all hell breaks loose. Wennberg possibly gets the same, and then there's room for a real upgrade elsewhere. D?

Roslovic is likely a much better fit than Wennberg considering he is capable of playing both RW in the top six and third line center. If none of the prospects are ready Roslovic and continue to play with Kreider/Zibanejad. If they are ready and want a chance in the top six he can play 3C (if no Chytil). If Chytil is back Roslovic can play third line wing. I can't remember Wennberg ever really playing wing so he's pretty locked into 3 or 4C. Even if Wennberg can be shifted to wing he is likely an absolutely terrible fit on the Zibanejad line with his complete avoidance of shooting the puck.

I think there will be over a $1m difference and a year or two more on a Roslovic deal, so that's mainly why I'd lean Wennberg. Ross is a better RW, but Wenn is a better 3C. If Fil is ready to go, then HE can play that RW. He's done it before, but was needed on the 3rd line.

If the contract is the same, then okay, Roslovic.

I’m not so sure Roslovic will cost more. We just saw one player get traded for a 2nd round pick+ and the other for a 4th. They’re only 2 years apart.

Laf, Zib, Panarin, Fox, Trochek, Kreider?
