At practice today.

Kreider - Zib - Roslovic
Panarin - Trocheck - Laf
Cuylle - Wennberg - Kakko
Vesey - Goodrow - Rempe

Gustafsson - Fox
Miller - Schneider
Jones - Ruhwedel

Why is Brodzinski getting scratched when it should be that bum Kreider?

Probably has a little bit to do with Kreider's goal total this year equaling Brodzinski's career point total.

Just based on watching the games Washington seems like the most "stable" and consistent of all those teams trying to grab basically the final 2 spots.
The reason for that is that they play pretty hard/ good coach and their goaltender has been fantastic (LINDGREN that is not Darcy).
Philly plays hard and has a good coach but they are gonna run their goalie into the ground (they kind of have to at this point).
And over the last two weeks have not seen a team play as badly as Detroit has played. They should have lost again last night against a bottom feeder.
Basicaly all the teams below TB points wise are pretty mediocre and that's being nice.
Well, looking at the schedules of both Rangers and Carolina, we both have 13 games left.
Rangers have 8H/5A, Car 6H/7A,
Rangers play 3 top 10 teams (Bos, Col away, Fla home), Car also play 3 top 10 teams (Tor, Bos home, Bos away)
Overall strength of schedule I think slightly favors Carolina, who play Columbus twice and Chicago...but we have a 2 point lead PLUS the tiebreaker...

While i dont want us to lose games. I wouldn't mind falling to metro 2 spot.

Metro 1 is going to play tampa. Metro 2 plays philly, or whatever else bad team manages to squeak in.

Let carolina have a blood bath with tampa.

I firmly believe that Metro 1 this year is not a good thing.

The only way we avoid playing Tampa (who I agree will finish as WC1), is by either finishing 2nd in the Metro OR winning the Presidents trophy...:eek3:

Is this our first practice since the TDL?

I’d switch Zibs and Wennberg and probably KAM and Gus.

Keep seeing his name but have no clue about his game.

Does he use his size or is he a gentle giant?

Not a gentle giant. Not shy about throwing the occasional hit and is really good at working the walls and with his size you can imagine that it's a crucible to get it away from him.

4th line profile for sure but a really good one. I'm a fan.

The NHL projects league revenue to be about $6.2B this season. Cap expected to go up by more than $1M dollars for first time since before the COVID19 pandemic.

Someone (or people) on here can correct/clarify this for me, but the NYR still have a tight squeeze on the cap for next year without a significant subtraction (Trouba-NTC; Lindgren; etc; uncertainty with Chytil's return; possible LTIR?). Laf due an extension. Igor might be next year. Kakko playing better; he'll want a raise. Not to mention which UFAs do you bring back? Obviously some of this depends on how they do in the playoffs.

Look, regardless of what you think about Tampa, they're certainly not as good as our 2nd round opponent Carolina, or our 3rd round opponent Florida, or any of our 4th round opponents out of a group that includes Colorado, Dallas, Vegas, or Edmonton.

If we can't beat Tampa, what are we even trying to do?

Fr. Plus overall we’ve been better against Tampa this season that Philly whom we’ve struggled to beat

The point is to have as easy a road as possible. I'd rather play a team that we are likely to beat in 5 or six games. I doubt we would get by Tampa easily. This team has shown that they run out of gas when they have difficult first and second round series.

It's about matchups/styles.

Tampa clamps down the middle of the ice and we're left scratching our head why we can't use the royal road. The team needs to adapt and our vet leadership hasn't shown that to me yet.

Can we beat them? sure. Should we beat them? yes.

There really isn't an easy matchup possible outside of maybe Detroit if that shakes out.

Which team did I name isn't good at clamping down the middle? Maybe Colorado who has Team Canada caliber talent?

It's the playoffs. Tampa is firmly in the bottom half of teams that will be there.

They have Kucherov and Point and that's about it.

They'll also have Hedman playing half the game who is currently one of the worst defenders in the league.

They're just not a very good team and they do nothing to exploit what we're bad at. Everyone is just overreacting to one big game by Point. We looked good against Tampa the two times before that.

Philly designs their whole game around what we're bad at. We have multiple defensemen who can't handle a forecheck at all, and all they do is forecheck. The whole series would be played in our zone.

They're similar to Carolina except Carolina wilts when it's close. Brind'Amour is fake. I don't think a Torts team would wilt.

They may not be good... but they will kneecap two or three of our best players, or at least Fox because that's who they are. Let Florida limp out of that series.

Tampa will be a tough out given their pedigree and championship(s). Philadelphia is a young group that have zero expectations and a lousy goaltender.

Which road will be less bumpy?
Which road will have less bruises?
Which road will take less games?

Anyone but Tampa in the first round, please.

TB's core has mastered playoff hockey imo. They know how to get as close as possible to the line without getting called, and when they do cross the line they get their money's worth. They were falling all over and into Igor every game when the Rangers met them in the ECF most recently. They know what it takes and have no problem doing it no matter how nasty. For that reason specifically I'd prefer Philly, but certainly not exclusively.

Florida is another team that plays that way, but only after learning from TB after several eliminations.
