Now do the math...
ok fair enough
ballpark key #s

NY has 1.5 million cap space
Sens have 1.7 cap

I said:
"
Shesty
Goodrow half retained
Othmann
Perrault

for

Sanderson
Pinto
Grieg
Tarasenko retained

---------"

Shesty is 5.6 +
Good 3.6+ at half is 1.8 ish
ny adds 2 elcs

Sens have Sanderson end of elc now then 8m long term
+ 2 elcs which ballpark cancel NY's 2 elcs
+ then they move Tara which is 5 no retention, so I said w/retention = less

OK you raised a valid point.
The offer has to be retooled b'c long term Shesy + Good cancel out Sandy at 8.
Howev, this yr Sanderson is still only 925k elc
I saw that but lost track!
So you got me!!!
But this can still be salvaged.

We might have to pay Sens to fit the numbers, but one fit that could be ok w/no such payment::

Shesty 5.6
Othmann elc
Perrault elc

for

Sanderson 925k
Pinto elc
Grieg elc
Tarasenko not retained at 5m

So the dif is now half mil ish saved by OTT

Rs have to find Good a new home but no rush, all cap compliant...

Your proposals are actually getting worse. Yikes.
honest objective critique w/o nastiness is welcome.

Do yr best Billy Crystal/Robert DeNIero/Lisa Kudrow and 'Analyze That'.

I'm having a tough time getting psyched for this season to start. The vets are getting older, and I'm not optimistic they even maintain the production they've had the last few years. I see a decline in play as the most likely outcome. A few of the young guys might turn into quality players, but none are special. They show flashes of being solid players sometimes, but they don't dazzle you at all. I don't see a roster that is competing with the cream of the crop. Shesterkin can maybe carry them to a playoff spot and a R1 win, but that sounds best case.

I'll watch most games like I normally do and cross my fingers that I'm wrong, but it's been a while since I've had this little energy for a new season.

Is this too pessimistic?

Yea too pessimistic
I too have concerns but it’s not always going to be easy. New coach may take some time to figure it out
They have maybe the best G in the league
Fox one of the best D. Miller , Schneider are young . Lindgren , Trouba are tough . D is solid
I question if Panarin can keep putting up points but reality is the numbers are there Year to year

He will, that was his garbage assigned number they gave him. Only 1st rounders get to pick their number ahead of time (and Sykora apparently, maybe cause he was the first pick in his draft).

He normally wears 13, maybe Laf will give it up to him :sarcasm:
If he changes, I’d love to see him take 4 or another single digit number. Single digit numbers look so cool on forwards.

Love Cuylle making the team. He and Othmann are types of guys we have been lacking. The organization did a great job of developing this types of players after the cancelled season, but its been a while. Not crazy about Drury but I like that he is starting to find and develop some players with grit and hustle again.

There's nothing nasty about saying this is absolutely ludicrous and will never happen.

I’ve been told that on a clear day you can see Kravtsov from Vancouver.
So technically EdJo is an an expert in this area.

I think that's what you meant to say.

Definitely need to inject youth into the lineup and Cuylee is a start . I’d expect Othmaan on the team full time next year

Hopefully Chytil, Kakko , Laf take a step and stay.

Guys in the AHL have a shot and hopefully someone crushes that league and pushes to add more youth . Even a 4th line energy guy like Berard or a big boy like Edstrom

Othmann to the AHL is the right play. Let him get the minutes and be the guy.

Excited to see Cuylle up with the boys. Hoping the adrenaline doesn't were off but it's possible we could see him bouncing back and forth this year, which is not a bad thing. This team finally has some depth where we don't have to force young guys in the lineup.

Also, as many others have said Gus is going to greatly improve the defense. I'm happy Drury took the PMD approach, and not the tough guy approach

I think they are fighting for a wild card spot this season and then everyone in the media acts surprised and pretends they underachieved. Maybe Igor gets them through the regular season but hard for me to see anything but another first round exit at best

Here's a blockbuster:

Shesty
Goodrow half retained
Othmann
Perrault

for

Sanderson
Pinto
Grieg
Tarasenko retained

---------
Sandy fits as first pair LD, challenged only by an improving KAM
Pinto = immediate middle 6 pivot Grieg useful
Tara = 1 yr stopgap
Rs give up talent to get talent, but improve skating/speed
gamble on Garand

Sens get dif maker Shesty, dibs on extending
w/shesty, they can sell high on Korpisalo
Othmann is local Ontario guy, ready on elc, has a full game other than speed
Perrault is a winner w/local French community, high marks other than speed, elc
2 elcs help w/cap and Sanderson is 8m beginning next season [Rs use Trouba $$]
Goodrow useful, but overpriced, but less so retained.
Good at 2ish may be better long term asset mgmt then stopgap Tara

1st draft...
Ive seen you post these trades for around 10 years. Have any ever happened?

Cuylle over Othmann?

This organization man...
I thought Othmann had a hard time when teams started playing most of their roster. To me the last 2 games for him showed that sending him down might not be a bad thing. He can be called up if needed.

after the usual "get my NHL system in tact" period with Laviolette, if I see any signs of the vets slacking and playing lackadasical I want heads to roll. get rid of every one of them if they don't respond to this coach. especially zib and panarin. I already thought this group didn't deserve another chance, I'm in no mood to give them, especially those two, any grace. Would get rid of them for literally anything to get their complacent shit attitudes off this team.
