Capfriendly says hes not eligible for an offer sheet

Pinto really does not have a ton of leverage, hence why he was not playing before the suspension news. Reading the tea leaves, he just doesnt want to be in Ottawa. Can anyone blame him?
Is that because he's still suspended?

The difference is .4 million in cap space. Thats not insurmountable. Throw in a pick and get retention from the Sens. Thats the type of hockey trade id be looking to make. Im not really interested in rentals this year.
Well you have to give Pinto a contract too. It not a .4 difference

Would he have enough experience if he plays the rest of this season?

That I do not know. I wouldnt be overly concerned about whatever contract he gets in the summer. Just seems like a good buy low candidate and we know how much the NY kids love playing here.

Saw on twitter, the Rangers are 124-57-20 since the Wilson incident and firings of Gorton, JD & Quinn. We're not a perfect team but we're clearly very f'ing good. Enjoy these times while they last.

Well its either that or dont play. Its all a hypothetical anyway.
Years ago I just wanted a shot by making the playoffs. Now I see a 2-3 year window so Im hoping we do something to maximize that shot before key players (Bread, CK, Zibs, Trouba) hit their age declines.

You want to see what Jones adds to our checking line? He coughs up the puck as it is.
It's a completely different dynamic being ON the forecheck as opposed to being the TARGET of the forecheck.
Anyway. All I'm saying is I'm interested in finding out how he would do at forward. You can be completely opposed to or disinterested in that, and that is perfectly okay, I'm not trying to change your mind... but doesn't change the fact that I WOULD like to see how that goes. I'm not predicting it would be a success, I'm saying I'd like to find out. You don't care to? Cool. The world keeps spinning.

Q

is Brod still waiver exempt?

Ottawa is such a mess that they might just want to hit the reset button, but he probably winds up costing a lot; which might be fine though.

If rangers go all in and use their 1st, it needs to be for someone cost controlled. Make the Tampa move basically. Going all in on a rental is not the move.
agree w/da bold
foundation piece or hold

Here's a thought:

To NYR:
Barrett Hayton @ 50%

To ARI:
Kaapo Kakko

To NYR:
Noah Hanifan @ 50%
To CAL:
Ryan Lindgren + NYR 2nd '25

To OTT:
2 of Matthew Robertson/Bryce McConnel-Barker/Brody Lamb

To NYR:
Rights to Shane Pinto

The Rangers could sign Pinto to ~$1m contract or maybe slightly more to get him into the lineup for this season.

Panarin-Chytil-Lafreniere
Kreider-Zibanejad-Wheeler
Hayton-Trochek-Pinto
Cuylle-Goodrow-Vesey
Bonino, Pitlick

Hanifan-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Gustafsson-Schneider
Jones

I don’t think that this front office (rightfully or wrongfully) has the balls to pull the trigger on a Lindgren deal in season. Especially if Trouba is out long term. Lindgren you kind of want to move for a better puck moving LHD if you want to get value there. But that’s a really tough move to make in season
1. don't be afraid to go 2 steps:
a) deal Lindy;
b) make a deal for a replacement, but not for the sake of a replacement, but only if there is a good deal to be had.

Selling Lindy now is best return
rip off the band aid
stop the bellyaching

Robertson should get mins
The rest remains to be seen but we see he can skate.

I'm not telling anyone what to want. I just pointed out that if we are trying to build his value or move him for the best return, playing him at F probably won't help that.

I don't see any harm in him taking shifts at practice, but I doubt he's going to show anything that takes even Brod or Pitlick out of the lineup.

Have to look at the depth charts but I wonder if there's a Kakko+ for a guy with 2 playoff runs left that makes sense.
One of Dube or Mangiapane (at 50%) might be the way that this could go. Dube has arb rights and Mangiapane is 2 years. We can also have Bread's line and Eat Bread's line.
