Here's a thought:

To NYR:
Barrett Hayton @ 50%

To ARI:
Kaapo Kakko

To NYR:
Noah Hanifan @ 50%
To CAL:
Ryan Lindgren + NYR 2nd '25

To OTT:
2 of Matthew Robertson/Bryce McConnel-Barker/Brody Lamb

To NYR:
Rights to Shane Pinto

The Rangers could sign Pinto to ~$1m contract or maybe slightly more to get him into the lineup for this season.

Panarin-Chytil-Lafreniere
Kreider-Zibanejad-Wheeler
Hayton-Trochek-Pinto
Cuylle-Goodrow-Vesey
Bonino, Pitlick

Hanifan-Fox
Miller-Trouba
Gustafsson-Schneider
Jones
I get the second two moves as they are UPGRADES.
Kakko for Hayton is a downgrade IMO. For what a minimal cap savings? At the TDL that Cap savings would be what? 300K?

Would anyone else be curious to see Jones play forward if we are down a forward in a game or other situation arises? I have no idea how Jones would do at forward but I'd like to see him there before we make any decision on him.
want him gone
both no D or F
just gtfo

Yeah I mean, they just need to not extend him. in season move might actually be locker room suicide, but him and Igor are the too guys that they really cannot extend at what they will cost. I mean their best is find a team with too many puck movers and not enough lindgrens and try and do a swap but that’s a really tough ask
no to this narrative
players and team are here for the fans, without us the sport is not a professional league
all players can put on their big boy jerseys and recognize we exist in hard cap reality, and moves need to be made, like it or not

Lindgren and Kakko for Chychrun and Pinto, who says no?
Others also, but bern votes no in part because....

The limiting factor is cap space. Replacing Lindgren and/or replacing Jones still leaves us with 7 capable dmen. We can't count on anyone in the AHL.
Disagree
I want Robertson to get a chance, warts and all from growing pains
He'll skate as well as Jones and add size.
Everything else is a ?, and his greenness will be exposed day 1, but that is only day 1. Worth the risk

Scanlin, Fortescue show promise
NOW is the time to make an informed decision on Robby by seeing what he does/what his reasonable trajectory appears to be

Me. Chychrun is made of glass and Kakko is better at O and D than Pinto. But Pinto also plays C, and also may have a gambling problem. If everyone was able to stay healthy, I could see this, but one of the prime reasons we want to move Lindy is we are afraid of him breaking down... and Chychrun seems already there. I'm amazed he has played 30 games this season.
And the Cap says no I guess, as well.
... including b'c da bold.
Also, idea is to add Pinto not give away KK

Rentals are fine, if it's for a depth player and you don't pay that much. Josh Manson was a rental for the Avs, they paid a 2nd round pick for him (and an AHL prospect), at 50% retained. I don't mind a move like that. Mikkola was a rental last year, and filled his position very well for not a whole lot of cost (you would assume it was the 4th in the trade).

If you are going to ship away a 1st, a good prospect let alone a roster player, it better be for someone with term or control.
We should not nec be comfortable with this in a vacuum.
We should go at least this, and even more may be ok, but I want a friggin FOUNDATION level piece in return

eff Chych
overpay in currency that makes sense, too much for Sens to turn down, get Sanderson

So is this the end of Pitlick and Brodzinski on the roster please

Instead, smart move is send Bonino/+ to atrocious Oil. Ad Eds, keep Pit and Brodz

Pinto for Kakko may be a summer discussion.
NO
giving away KK for cheap
did we learn nothing from holding on to LaF
and before that, Kreider?

Hayton is an interesting target but no, KK value will rise.
don't want Hani esp when his contract up = $$$$$
also, CGY not gonna do Lindy/+ for Hani/+

We need to see what Ducks want for actual righty shot RD Helleson, a 2nd rounder w/size that supposedly they now have enuf D prospects he might be available.

1. don't be afraid to go 2 steps:
a) deal Lindy;
b) make a deal for a replacement, but not for the sake of a replacement, but only if there is a good deal to be had.

Selling Lindy now is best return
rip off the band aid
stop the bellyaching

Robertson should get mins
The rest remains to be seen but we see he can skate.
I mean I’m not afraid to :)

Nashville is in the thick of a playoff race and signed ROR for purposes beyond just production.

They aren't moving him.
Who is selling for sure right now?

Anaheim, Chicago, Columbus, Ottawa and San Jose?

And it’s possible some of those teams still lying to themselves too.

In terms of the Rangers needs, it’s slim pickings from that group

I remain interested in Corey Perry. Depending on the circumstances of his firing, he might be a difference-making addition heading into the playoffs.

I don't know if we necessarily need a seller. I could see us putting together more of a hockey trade that both teams are interested in short-term.

The only challenge with that is one of the positions where we have pieces I'm willing to move (LD) is one of the same positions I want to upgrade.

Maybe Kakko for a LD and potentially Lindgren for a youngish center.

Might need to flip those assets around and KK gets the defender and Lindgren is moved for Barrett Hayton

You could use other pieces to try and add a defender, including Kakko. Hayton drop over 40 points last season, but you've got Cooley and Geekie lined up to be their #1 and #2 centers for a while. That depth down the middle would be great, but they lack on the backend. Lindgren would be a different kind of piece for them.

Not sure what LD would be a target, but if it is Kakko going back, this is someone that would need to have term on the deal.

no on moving KK
stop dealing youth

Lindy does not get you Hayton

If Nashville wants assets and Chytil is not coming back, I continue to think of ROR as the perfect add at 3C.
If Nashville falls out of the playoff picture, Chytil for ROR could be a solid base. I would try and include Goody for Trenin in that trade somehow but not sure what other pieces would need to be added. Trotz I am sure could be a Goody guy as he plays exactly like he wants his players to play.

Does Chicago have anything to even sell?

Not really honestly. You could take a swing at Blackwell (lol) or Donato I guess, but don’t think either is really moving the needle. Maybe Dickenson? But I’d look elsewhere
