Roster Building Thread: Part VII (2023-24)

They are. I agree. But three basically identical “soft” scoring lines have proven to be pretty easy to defend come playoff time.

For me, Kane is either better than our top sixers and playing there or he is not. He is not the type of player that is going to contribute positively in a bottom six role in the playoffs.

And no, I wouldn’t be saying this about 2018 Patrick Kane. I’m talking about the little old guy that wants to play here now.

Both sides of that discussion have merit . Myself....I hope we have better options at LW by then with Laf-Cuylee and Othmann with no room for old man Kreider . However.....it is the Rangers and if he can still play a 4th line shift and do some tip ins the chances are good he will remain here as a 4th line career Ranger at 2.5 or less even if he is a 30 pt scorer .

Talk about strange times....we have a young male running around the area with a mask on and wielding a sword ! It all started Friday night when he jumped out from behind some rocks on a local beach and cut one woman's finger and ear off !!! That is not concocted....it happened ! Then he got away and the cops have been hunting /tracking him since and have not caught him yet as of mid Sunday afternoon ! People are scared shitless....Google sword wielding PEI . Crazy times during the full moon.

We need a more rambunctious team OA to have any luck at all against NJ since we cannot skate with them ....we have to bang them up in order to slow them enough to have a chance .

Kane is waiting for the OK from the doctor to be cleared for contact. What a joke. Kane could put a dozen eggs in each side of his hockey pants and they would not break.

Wheeler and Kane are ancient artifacts. Can we please give Kakko and Lafreniere those opportunities? Kakko played his best hockey with Zibanejad and Kreider. Put them together and leave them there. More PP time. Kakko’s PP time was barely existent and it was zero when Kane was acquired.

The Flames switched Tkachuk from LW to RW two seasons ago. He never played RW. In the last two seasons, Tkachuk has been arguably a top 3-5 player in the entire league. Lafreniere should be switched to RW. Third line left wing is nonsense.

Wheeler is not a top 6 player at this stage of his career. Vince had on Murat Ates who covers the Jets for The Athletic. Ates said Wheeler is best suited on the third line for a team which does not have a defensive checking line. The Rangers do not have a defensive checking line as a third line.

The season starts in 37 days. Camp is usually 20 days long. It should be fun seeing the Rangers make things more complicated and challenging for themselves.

Tkachuk already had a 30 goal season before switching. Good players can make the switch. No one is arguing that point.

We don't think Lafreniere can make the switch.

Being mildly cool, then being very uncool, then becoming cool again. Uncertain if I'm slapping a badge of honor on being lame, staying lame - being eternally lame.

Jokes on them, the isles fans/'humans' I grew up with are literally all still drinking every weekend in the places we used to frequent because 'they don't card there' - 20 years ago. Y I K E S.

Also - There is only one Tom Selleck sir. Though, he had an extremely 'Long Island look'. Or my dad and every other guinzo in the 70's & 80's there wanted to look exactly like him.

We do have a young winger that is big, physical, and skilled that has proven himself and produced at the AHL level and is ready for an NHL job in the top 9.

Switching to the opposite wing isn't an easy transition for everyone. It doesn't help that Lafrenière played exclusively LW all his life whereas Kakko played more LW than RW but still was very capable of both sides.

Same with Othmann, Berard, Sýkora, Vesey etc. But Kreider seems to struggle with it. Same with Laf. It just doesn't apply to everyone and that's the biggest misconception about this, I think.
