I know he was playing hurt but I wasn't all that impressed with Kane. With Panarin this time around the both of them were a shitshow. More interested in passing the puck around the perimeter and not so interested in getting pucks to the net. I was more impressed with Tarasenko. If the Rangers were to try to get Kane back there won't be a lot of cap $'s available. That's the other thing of what he would accept and I wouldn't necessarily put him on a line with Artemi.

I liked what we did for the '22 playoffs at the deadline more than I liked what we did last year. Drury astutely brought in good players who fit into roles. Copp was an all position Swiss Army knife who could take draws, play power play and penalty kill minutes and shuffle around the lineup. What I liked most about Vatrano is he played a fairly hard forecheck and he doesn't pass up shots by looking for the extra pass and he gets the puck to the net. Motte is just a good 4th liner---engergetic, very good penalty killer. Last year was more like trying to put together an all star team at the trade deadline.

Hypothetically speaking, who would you rather off a PTO for: Pool Party or Kessel?
Easily Jesse if they can replace all his leg bones. Falsely advertised “skill” guys with good physical tools and good possession numbers can be made into good fourth liners. Of course it depends on the injury, which sounds very bad, and if JP actually wants to pursue that kind of role instead of being a top player in Europe

Kane will be back. He's always been all about hockey 24/7. There's no reason to think he won't. He's going to put in the work without question.

Yeah, kinda unfair since he was gimped the whole season. I highly doubt he considers the above "himself".
That was a normal year for him.
You say this like he was a defensive stalwart throughout his career. He never was. But if you have the puck and producing offense then that means the other team doesn’t have the puck. Its that simple.
He did produce offense.

The numbers look the way they do because he's an honest to God non-NHL'er in two zones. He's been that for a long time.

I too have no idea why people want an aging pass first pacifist winger who would have declining speed and agility as a result of being 400 years old, let alone coming back from hip surgery.

Why yes, just what they need. A guy to make a 4-1 game against Columbus 6-1 in January. Awesome.

DeAngelo--good offense, subpar defense, bad attitude which has cost him in every organization he's been a part of with the exception of Carolina....so far. I've not missed him at all since he's moved on and in the playoffs against us a couple years ago he was IMO Carolina's worst defenseman--someone our forwards took advantage of game after game which was great for us. I'd easily take all of Fox, Trouba and Schneider over him.

Well he had a better playoff than Panarin and he was hurt. What does thet say about Panarin, his lazy predictability and his lazy work ethic.

I can't believe the same forum desperately hanging onto the country club meme would also entertain bringing back Kane.

He's the one player who's exactly that. He'll get his point and lounge in a hammock the rest of the night doing less than Goodrow.
Really just comes down to cost... he likely signs for close to league minimum. Is this team better off with Patrick Kane on the roster or Tyler Pitlick or whoever that 12th guy is.. that's really what this boils down to. That's who he'd be pushing off the roster. I agree with others that we looked better picking up heart n soul sort of players but that's not really the question here. That can be addressed at the deadline if need be. We added Wheeler, he's no slouch to play against. A right side of Kakko, Wheeler, Kane & Vesey sounds plenty fine to me... IF Kane can still play

If Kane wanted to re-sign with us for league minimum, value wise it should be a no-brainer. But I just don't want to have Laviolette two veterans he can put ahead of Kakko in the pecking order. On the left side, it's tough for Laf but it is what it is. Let's not make f*** it up for Kakko, he should be locked in with Zibanejad or Panarin, and bringing in a guy like Kane is an excuse for Lavy to play both Wheeler and Kane ahead of him. No thanks.

Kane should not be the difference with us making the playoffs. Kane being on the team could be the difference of Kakko taking or not taking the next step. And this team needs Kakko or Laf (or preferably both) to take that next step to go on a run.

Depends on the price, but a third line of Kreider Trochek and Kane wouldn't be bad. He was on one leg this year and you could tell. I mean if he signs for something that fits under the cap it would be really hard to find that kind of value somewhere else. My only issue is that if he gets the same treatment by the current staff as he did with Gallant and gets handed top mins then its not gonna work for us, him and Panarin can't be linemates at this point in their career, shouldn't play with Kakko or Lafreniere either.

He literally had 92 points just 2 years ago…
For a different team. He's not getting 92 for the Rangers. I don't give a shot what he did for another franchise.

Kakko and/or Laf better have taken that step before Kane hobbles into town

No, they're better off with whatever playoff ready forward they can get for that spot rather than Kane.

I don't think Panarin is a lazy player per se; rather I think the problem we have with him is his game doesn't 'fit' with what we believe is the 'epitome' of NY Ranger play style.

It's kind of like if we had McDavid here, and we said, 'Hey man we really like the speed, stick handling and scoring prowess but we think you need to play a bit more like Dylan McIlrath.'

Square peg and all that.

Maybe if Panarin took a hit to make a play instead of avoiding contact and turning the puck off that is the real issue with Panarin besides not showing up in the playoffs. Kreider shows up in the playoffs. Panarin does not

Yeah cause he f***ing stinks

There was also the problem that after Kane was brought in there was a disruption of our top two lines that pretty much Gallant etal weren't able to figure out all the way through that first round loss to New Jersey. It's like Tarasenko and Kane were moving here and there or someone else was getting moved and then moved back and forth and part of the issue here is that these guys are production guys and they don't fit up and down the lineup and now we had the problem of too many guys who were one trick pony's and one of them had an injury and was kind of lame. That wasn't a problem for guys like Copp or Vatrano because you could move them up and down the lineup---they were guys with histories of fitting and playing different roles. We should have stopped at Tarasenko and I think things might have worked out better.

Apologies for my lack of knowledge as well as choice of forum but I am REALLY hoping someone can answer a few quick questions for me about Vincent Trochek:

1. What line/which players did Trochek play most with last season?
2. What PowerPlay line did Trochek predominantly play last season?
3. Do you envision Trochek having similar, more, or less vital role as last season.

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

3. Really hard to say with a new coach.

Okay so now we’re moving goal posts? 92 points just 2 years ago is irrelevant because it doesn’t fit your perception of him?

This is a HOF bound player. 1st ballot. If they can get him to sign for $3 million or less you do it. And you especially do it so you are not forking over assets at the trade deadline to add a top 9 player to upgrade on Jimmy Vesey…again.
