Just send TDA home and buy him out in the offseason.

Doubt we get anything for him. Even at 50% retention.

ANd I am not denying that...

But Geo is still responsible for throwing punches... If he did that, then he asked for being pinned up against the wall
It depends. Self defense is a reasonable excuse. Also a guy with no prior history gets more of a break. We'll see what the team does and how they explain it all.

Yeah, the idea would be that they might be able to get him with salary retained, or that the could send a bad salary back. I don't think either happens but that's the speculative scenario.

I don't know how many times this has to be reiterated...

FOUR teams can take his contract right now without roster manuevers...

It's not about trrading him "for" something, a contract swap or 50% retention IS a very good buy for most teams

Again, why don't you take a second and look at the books for most of these teams?

View attachment 391265

There are FOUR teams that can take him at his full cap hit right now... The rest cannot take him, and/or have millions on their IR lists...

Lastly, why don;t you look at some other replies:

The guy is a talent, the issue is not this "episode", it is his contract

hate to remind you but apparently no one wanted him this summer either. And that’s BEFORE this.

so with all that talent nobody wants him for free now no one wanted to trade for him this offseason while he was spouting off so maybe maybe someone takes him for what a million dollars? A 25 year old 60 pt right shot qb? He’s only avail at that price because he’s literally a lockerroom cancer

So I have some insight into this realm in general. The standard to defend yourself isn't a high bar. Tony blocking his path, invading his space, intimidating, and possibly choking (alleged at this time) is more than enough justification for Georgiev to defend himself. If AG threw a punch over an obnoxious comment, then you are right.

People think it's a line, but it's a spectrum and your response is like a seesaw. That's kind of why I wanted to wait for the details. People can find my response yesterday where I kind of predicted how it played out. It made the most sense based on how it was unfolding.

I don't mean to lecture. I'm just clarifying why Georgiev is probably fine if he threw the first punch.
When I was a teenager I was riding the Metro home from Verizon Center after a Caps-Rangers game (we lost). Some guys on the escalator next to me were hassling me, I told them to f*** off, one of them reached over and pushed me in the shoulder which caused me to stumble down a step into a person in front of me, and I responded by swinging back (didn't land anything cleanly). We got to the bottom, security and Metro police were involved. They asked me if I wanted to pursue charges because the other guys were threatening to "beat my ass" and actually pushed me. I threw the punch but that was irrelevant, I was defending myself against an assault and battery. I threw the punch, but I was considered the victim. Gotta understand the totality of the circumstances with these things.

Nobody wanted him the summer BECAUSE he would cost $4.8M... How can you not understand this?

Tony through his Twitter account has made it clear who he is. If he could have kept that out of the locker room, we wouldn't be where we are. He is not smart enough or discipline enough to do that and now his bigoted ass is gone. What high horse do you think folks are on? The one that recognizes a racist pig and wants to disassociate with said pig? I will sit on that horse all day.

So close and yet so far.

Per Edge's words, "not a BIG racial problem in this country"... Again, I don't thnink there is a "BIG" racial issue in this country... racial issues in specific places? sure.... but what MSM tells you is a racial issue is likely not -- do your own research for those things

I'm pretty moderate but I'm not seeing how you can make the claim that there isn't a big race problem in this or most other modern countries. There's a lot of research on this that exists already.

I'm sure he's not done. However, if he continues to be a bigoted child, his next team will take issue and eventually, he will show himself out of the league. Your excuses for him are ridiculous. We are all dealing with the same shit; none of it is an excuse to do what he has been doing and did with Georgie.

I must have missed the bigoted part. What about getting into a politics fight and being an asshole to Georgiev is bigoted?

Carps latest article is mostly regurgitating what we already know but he adds at the end that he thinks the chances are slim that a team would be willing to trade for Tony with money retained due to his baggage

IDK, I think you should get a suspension for this!!!

I'm aware, you don't need to reiterate it for me, thanks.

You're making an assumption that most teams would be interested in him at 50%. That may or may not be true.

No you see the 3 NHL organizations that kicked his ass to the curb are the problem, not Tony

It’s never Tony’s fault

I’d retain if someone is actually willing to part with something of decent quality. If his buyout cap hit is about 850k for a year, the only way I’d retain 2.4M and take the extra 1.6M cap hit is there’s actually an asset coming back. At 2.4M for the end of this year and one more, there has to be a GM out there who’d take a shot, but what they’d give up is the question.

Oh I understand very well. And I’ll even give you a pass as to why they wouldn’t do it now, but during the offseason ?

Do you understand that 4.8 mil for a 25 year old 60 pt right shot pp qb is a great deal that most teams would die to get if the guys name wasn’t Tony DeAngelo?

guys like that don’t grow on trees and they certainly don’t cost 2 mil per or less

this post is why all the "Let's just see WHAT exactly was said" was a bullshit stance. There's always going to be people that will just flat out say whatever it is he did or said isn't bad. You've logged on today and blame Georgiev and the media. Yes Tony BUT what about!

The team just lit an asset on fire and put him on straight up waivers, 8 games into a season, because he was that awful to be around. But they'll always be people white knighting for this dude.
