Lias at 7th overall was an awful pick to begin with. Should have picked a different player.

DeAngelo being a clown is his own fault. Can't see the future and know he would do that

and who did u want that draft? All the players Rangers management were high on were selected in the top 6.

it wasnt a strong draft year in general. So again, back in 2017 who sid u want them to pick at 7 who was available.

and without the knowledge of knowing what what player is going to become.

andersson wasnt really a reach. Sometimes a pick doesnt pan out. It happens.

i can picture Glen Sather resigning Zibby for 7 years from golf cart sporting his signature cigar.
If Mika gets back to playing how he was last year, I don’t think it’s an issue

the issue arises if he doesn’t get back to that point, which remains to be seen

Any news on Chytil? He looked like he has breakout season before injury. He looked like absolute alpha male on your team.

From NY lol? The best we can hope for are unnamed sources spreading rumors yet everybody knows the favorite cookie of each Mets player.

4-6 weeks and we watch the calendar is all we get :)

Personally i liked Suzuki, Vilardi, good thing we got Chytil in that draft.

and yeah it happens but it happens too much with this team when it comes to top 10 picks. If we want to win consistently, blowing top 10 picks needs to stop

3rd contracts kill your cap and you’re usually paying for what the player us rather than what they will become.

Who is going to want Kreider in 3.5 years, when we can trade him to 15 teams?

idk - he skates fast, doesn’t have a plus shot and isn’t too agile. IMO, he’s perfect for this team if the prospects were 2-4 years older.

Farabee looks pretty good in Philly. Hope Krav comes over someday.

i will give u vilardi, suzuki though would have been viewed as a reach at the time. He was only 10th ranked NA skater. So alot of people, including our scouts felt like there were better choices.

again hindsight is 20/20.

we wanted petersson and glass, neither fell to us.

edit: i should add this is not like picking Mcilrath who everyone, except our scouts apparently, that this was a bad choice. Especially when tarasenko and fowler were still on board.

The Problem is with Zib in the shadows and Chytil out, we don't have any good centers in the team. Are we gonna rely on Strome and Howden to carry while Zib is struggling? This is also affecting our performance on the wings a lot. The Center issue should have been addressed last season. I dunno, maybe we need to give Zib a break when Chytil is back, play him 1st center for a while.

I'm not worried about him long-term but he's killing the team at the moment. I think when Chytil comes back, they'll be able to stretch the lineup a bit. But you're right, right now he's not just playing bad but he's dragging that whole line down with him.

Those guys went before we picked so they don't matter. And it's not hindsight, i wanted those guys before we picked Lias.

and the teams that picked vilardi and suzuki might have picked anderson over then if he was available. Anderson was picked right around where he was ranked. It was not a reach, and was not a “bad” pick. That is my point. Its not our fault he didnt develop.

Macilrath was a horrible pick. Jessiman was a horrible pick. Everyone knew that at the time.

Lias is the new McIlrath. Not as awful but still a setback for this team who can really use a young middle 6 center right now.

and he was supposed to be that guy! He is not the new mcilrtath. Bc mac was a horrible pick at the time and everybody knew it.

anderson was supposed to be a top6 center. Scouts liked hin. He was a leader. He was clutch. He didnt develop.

mac was a reach. Mac was a project. And he was picked ahead of guys that were clearly superior to him who had superstar potential and fell in our laps. Anderson was not.

it sucks that anderson didnt work out. But it wasnt a horrible pick.

and nothing says that vilardi or suzuki would have worked out here.

Why are you ok with this team blowing top 10 picks? Then they need to trade for players to fill in those holes so the cycle never ends.

why wouldn't they work out here? Suzuki, Vilardi, Necas, just give me a damn forward who can produce at 7. I don't care who it was

I don't think anyone is okay with it, so much as they also see a bigger picture --- which includes a prospect pool that is ranked at or near the top of every ranking in the sport.

Yes, missing on Andersson really sucks.

But hitting on Miller feels really good. As does Chytil, etc. etc.

So it's a bit of give and take.

he’s getting paid almost $5 million so he didn’t tank anything. He has two years and was benched after one game. All his fault and rest of the org gets a pass?

Exactly! i'm not excusing ADA from his actions, but Gorton said last week they did "due diligence" with him... really? How?

Gorton shot down every accusation made at ADA, yet, why was this info leaked to the press?

Is it so unusual for players on a hockey club to go at each other from time to time?

I'm getting really concerned this org. knows how to build a team through the draft/development

picking a player around where they were expected to be picked is not blowing a pick. Would i rather have a player who succeeds yes. But this wasnt viewed as a bad pick at the time. And he was thought to be the most NHl ready prospect. It sucks yes, but they didnt blow the pick.

reaching for a player who then sucks is blowing a pick.

I don't see a single center prospect worth anything in this organization and that's how games are won. We need to get a few centers in here imo
