Did I miss when Sam Bennett actually became a good player?

They’d be fools to pass that up

They get the better player and in return we get an expensive 4th liner with intangibles
I mean, yeah, I'm just trying to point out that they always want to get tougher and always want to push skilled players out

Honestly i think Anderson seems to me to be someone you'd need to see a full healthy year out of in order to trade your 2c for him. He could be Rangers Prust or end of the road Prust depending on his shoulders.

Brandon Prust scored 40 goals in his career.

Anderson eclipsed that total in his last 2 full seasons. Shoulder injuries are not ideal, but they're hardly a death sentence.

I suggested Buch, but Strome for Anderson is a lay up.

Buchnevich is so underappreciated on this board.

17th highest scoring RW in the NHL and that's without PP1 time.

8th highest Corsi rel of all RW's in the NHL.

Highest scoring player on the Rangers that didn't play on the #1 PP unit.

2nd highest Corsi on the Rangers.

By any statistical measure, he's one of the best players on our team and among the top 20 RW's in the NHL.

He's barely 25, homegrown, under team control, popular in the locker room, and getting better at the physical and defensive parts of the game and improving every year. Basically everything you should hope for out of a draft pick.

People complain about how we haven't picked top players later in the draft. Then we get one and seemingly everyone here wants to trade him for spare parts, depth, or as a throw-in.

Agree with most of what you said. But this team is pretty heavy on the wing and Buch is going to start costing more money soon. Might just be that he's the logical guy to move from a position of strength for help in other areas.

Smith isn't bad he's just overpaid. If he was making $2M a year we'd be happy.
You got it. That’s why I’m deathly (ok, I’m exaggerating) afraid of giving anyone but top-drawer stars their UFA deals. Good, popular, effective players become plop overnight.
And those guys *should* be getting those deals, btw. Just not from the Rangers, please. There are bargains to be had with young players and older players but there’s that 27-year-old area where the deals are so dangerous.

The same was true for Skjei. He was being asked to play a role he wasn't ready for. Doesn't make someone a bad player. Smith is definitely overpaid. Skjei I can make the argument that his AAV is fair for what he brings, if the team he is on has the top pair guys to take those heavy minutes away from the rest of the blueline
I agree in theory but for some reason Skjei just could not accept playing the way he’s suited. With Trouba, I thought Skjei was in a perfect situation. Let Trouba run around, Skjei stays back and defends. Perfect, right? But somehow he screwed that up. I worry Skjei just doesn’t have what it takes. Or maybe he’ll learn it, but not till he loses a step. The dude is such a talent, but it’s like he learned hockey from a coloring book.

Panarin - Strome - Kakko
Kreider - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
Lafreniere - Chytil - Fast
Lemieux - Howden - Gauthier

Lindgren - Fox
Smith - Trouba
Hajek - DeAngelo

Shesterkin
Georgiev
I *totally* get the thinking to put Fast with Lafreniere. But, wow, if we want Lafreniere to get some instant confidence maybe a more offensively gifted running mate is in order. I think it’s possible to shelter Lafreniere without giving him a defensive forward on his opposite wing. I might actually be looking for a vet 3C for Lafreniere and play him with Buch or Kakko. I dunno, just brainstorming.

Eh I dunno, Minnesota does some dumb stuff that has carried over across multiple GM's.

I'm calling it right now - Brodin+9 for Staal+Geo+21.
I want us to keep our pick. And also Geo. We can trade him to Coloronto for a few first rounders.
