What about Johansson in NSH? They will likely shake it up

8 million long term so salary needs to go the other way

You'd think Danault had at least been a Selke finalist...

The highest he finished in the voting was 7th... last year.

Hell Ryan Callahan has had higher Selke results.

Barkov is a 1C and Danault is more like a 3C than a 2C. Barkov would be worth almost whatever contract it would take to get him. Danault? Not so much.
My point is to leave future cap space for a guy like Barkov in case circumstances align like they did with Panarin. He also might be on the market next summer if he doesn't want to resign in Florida.
And Zib will need a big raise the way he's playing. That's why I'd be hesitant committing long term to support guys of Danault's caliber.

if Barkov comes he’s replacing Mika. We are not going to afford UFA deals for both of them.

I wonder if Howden would be of interest to Toronto. They need cheap depth players who can fill roles. Lemieux too.

Im not getting the Danault over Lindholm argument. Specifically due to contract status. I’m really not interested in bringing in a soon to be UFA unless Gorton gets the ability to talk contract before the deal is finalized. If he’s asking for $4.5m, maybe. If he’s asking for $6m, hell no.

I still believe Strome to a team like Buffalo makes the most sense if they can work out a long term deal.

Turris is the one they will get rid of. Possibly even buyout if you believe any of the talk. I would take a flier on him if the deal was right (assuming Strome was moved). 1 or 2 years to rebuild his value, relatively cheap.

Its surprising Turris didn't work out in Nashville. He was a killer for the sens. Nice edge to his game and a very good passer.

You're probably right, but who knows what this pandemic does in 2 years to contracts.

In two years we're going to be giving raises to Kakko and Fox. I'm pretty comfortable saying we aren't going to add an 8M UFA forward contract in the next couple years while keeping Panarin and Zibanejad.

Turris is on a downward spiral.

That should tell you everything about how useful the selke voting is to determine who is actually defensively sound and who isn't.
