This is my thinking too. I don't really know how you reconcile the obvious push to compete in the immediate future with trading away your only proven RW in a significant role. Will Gorton disassemble the top line to draft a player that contributes so far down the line? It seems like people are viewing the players as a list of assets as they go shopping. But they are puzzle pieces and removing the wrong one might mean none of the rest fit together at all.I think that Gorton would only do so if he had absolutely no other choice or was in an unmanageable situation. Aside from that, as we all beleive that the team intends to compete for the playoffs next year, I do not see Gorton trading a young, 55 point wing for a player who may only help them in 5 years. And will certainly not replenish the production for this year.
