For me, the short term of the contracts for some of the LD out there is a positive thing.

I dont disagree so long as were not forking over high valued assets for only two years of service, which is a strong possibility when discussing Lindholm. Maybe Danault you can extend at a reasonable salary but unlikely because he will want to cash in too if he keeps progressing in production.

Let me tell you Barron is a very smart player I’d be shocked if he didn’t make the team. Only way he doesn’t is if his skating isn’t where it needs to be. I don’t think that’ll be an issue.

I don’t think so. Lemieux could play there and Gettinger could move up.

but I am admittedly high on Barron and I think he is going to make an immediate impact he won’t play in the A.

you could also put Kravtsov there. In essence that spot could come down to one of them

I'd probably flip Barron and Kreider just for balance.

That is debatable.

Domi isn't very good defensively. We kind of need that quality in our lineup.

Funnily enough, despite how bad he was defensively this season, he was actually one of our best PKers in terms of limiting PP goals against.

Danault is way better than Domi, so much so that he will be staying in Montreal. If i thought we could snag him id be all over it.

I don't think anyone is saying he's replaceable so much as saying he seems to be the most likely player from a position of strength on the roster to get traded because he's valuable enough to bring back a piece that would greatly strengthen a weakness elsewhere

We have so much money coming off the books next year that keeping him really wouldn't be a problem.

Even if he's "peaked" hes a good bet to be a quality middle 6 center who provides pretty much everything we need for a while.

I don't think we'd trade for him with out having an idea of what he was looking for and the confidence to get him signed when eligible.

he had more EV strength points than Strome. He’s elite defensively compared to Strome. He’d be playing on a line where his role isn’t to lead offensively. He’d be a great fit with our wings who are offensively dominate but somewhat lack defensively.

Not going to lie, my interest in Danault is fairly lukewarm.

I think he's a nice enough player, I think he brings value. But I feel like I'd rather set my sights higher and invest that money (and the next contract) differently.
