I basically want to be looking at under 25 guys.

That'd be great but those guys aren't readily available.

Now I'm not saying that you're suggesting that the Rangers need this, but I feel like there is an overwhelming opinion here that they need a Star behind Zibanejad. They don't need a star, I'd actually advise against that (in most cases.)

Better than Strome and different/more diverse than our other forwards should really be the goal here. If we can get Lindholm out of Calgary? Alright, lets do that but I don't see that as possible or realistic.

Danault checks a ton of boxes for us and shouldn't be disregarded just because hes over 25. He plugs multiple holes at once (PK, C, hard to play against.)

This is actually my issue with Buch. He is a good passer and even could be a good trigger man, I think. But I don’t see him as a guy who drives play, so to speak. He can fill out a top six line for sure. But I see a guy like Kapanen as someone who can actually lug the puck and make some space. Which I value more. Again, not saying it’s a definitive thing and everyone has their own preferences. Just my opinion.

Not sure how you weigh fancy stats, but compare those of Kreider and Zibanejad with Buch and without him. He's very much a play-driver

Here's an idea for 2C help; my old buddy who this board accuses me of man crushing on Andreas Athanasiou.

Maybe something around him and Chiason coming to the Rangers for Buch +? Him and Buch are very close in age.

I think he'd fit this system well, he PKs, and would work well with one any of the LW riches.

He can also play wing which is great because if Chytil takes the next step, AA is still useful and Strome let's be real is only here for one more year. It's a win for Edmonton because they get an extra year for having to worry about arbitration.

AA needs a change of scenery and he's someone who can help for the foreseeable future.

I don’t care how old he is, I just don’t want to essentially rent him for one season.

That would be beyond awful for us considering that he could be had for just money after the Oilers don't tender him a contract.

We don't need another forward who doesn't play defense. We have plenty of those already.

Buch is weird because when you watch him play it always seems like he’s making mistakes or lagging, but in the end he has a very positive effect.

I’ve been paying a little extra attention to Cirelli since his name started coming up on here.

Not saying it would be justified...but I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that he would be a “candidate of much debate” on here and elsewhere in the NYR universe if they gave up a big package for him.

People would expect a very good 2C, and I’d even say would likely get that, but I’m not sure the expectations would live up to the game in, game out viewings. Parallels to Trouba in some ways.

I was listening to CJB earlier. He said the Leafs should be in the market for Pietro but admitted the price might be a tad high. Then he was talking about the 15th pick the Leafs acquired and he said there is a dman in the draft who could be there who he projects to be like Trouba "and who wouldn't want to have a Jacob Trouba". So as I sat there with my arm stretched as high as physically possible, I thought maybe for the love of god we can pull this off.
This is bernmeister, isn't it? Test: who is the Rangers best 2C option?

I’m not sure the Rangers need a 2C who needs to be a defensive stalwart. I’d be just fine with a guy in the Boone Jenner role as 3C and match-up guy. In saying that, that guy would need to be paid as such, not $5m like Danault probably wants.

I think the Rangers had hoped either Howden or Andersson would grab that role.

I don't know how the salaries would line up down the road with out looking at it, but on the surface I would be all over adding both of them.

LD still remains a huge issue, but they don't need to fix everything this off season. Then again, I think Torts would kill Jarmo if he traded Jenner.

I feel like I say this all the time, but f***ing Lias....

I can definitely see a Trouba-like aftermath.
