This isn’t the best year for Rykov to come over. Would have to beat out at least Lindgren and Hajek for a spot. If they all go to hartford, he’d have to outperform them to stand out before next season. From what little I’ve read on Rykov, he’s not as ready as those two.
I’d actually make the argument he’s probably the closest to contributing of the 3

He’s much closer than Lindgren, and Hajek and him are probably neck and neck

They all deserve a look in the NHL in my opinion. The logjam at LHD is frustrating.

I feel like what was reported after all three were acquired suggested that Hajek was the closest, and that maybe Lindgren had the highest potential. Wasn’t Rykov sat the last six of his KHL games?

I've never seen anyone report the bolded, but idk

And yeah he's been benched, but before being essentially blackballed by SKA, he was an under 21 top 4 Dman on a top team in the second best league in the world.

Not an easy feat, especially when you factor in his age.

Again, I think it's close though between Hajek and Rykov

Is it possible for a KHL club to loan a player to an AHL club? The opposite of what we did with Beargloves last year?

If the KHL is able to call him back incase of a serious injury streak on their main players this could be a good situation for all parts in this case.

You are missing the point. He is one of their main defensemen, and they are doing this because he's not going to re-sign with them. Its out of spite. They have 30 million defensemen, almost all of which he's better than. Easy enough to make roster decisions when one makes it clear he won't be returning. This is what they did with Buchnevich. He got very low minutes when he was traded to SKA because he wasn't going to re-sign. They traded for Gusev at the exact same time, but there was not the threat of flight to NA after the season, so he was integrated, while Buchnevich was not. This board collectively freaked out that Buchnevich wouldn't be able to play in the NHL if he was playing such a small role in the KHL.

He signed an extension before the 16-17 season and proceeded to play 12:24 per game. Why wasn't he getting minutes then? That's the same TOI he received last year. If they're not going to integrate him into the team, why even play him at all? Is it possible that maybe, on top of knowing he's leaving (which doesn't really explain two seasons back), there are other reasons they're not as high on him as some others are? I mean you mention the risk of flight "after the season," but that hasn't applied to Rykov until now--yet he still received paltry minutes the past two years anyway.

Why blackballed?

One way or the other, Rykov needs to be playing hockey. Whatever form that takes I'm game.

When Zibanejad is healthy and motivated he’s a low end 1C. I haven’t lost hope yet. We need to be more patient. That contract could be a steal if he stays healthy.
He's healthy 0.3 of a season, then 03 of a season he is motivated. Then, hopefully he is good 0.3 if a season... 1 Center

Hayes and Zuccarello

Panarin has a neck issue. Columbus is willing to pay him basically anything. Take the money.

Despite the obvious, I have a hard time seeing MZA with CBJ under torts. That won't work out well I don't think, and I think CBJ knows too

They can't stand each other, forget it. Torts called him an interesting cat, then Zucc closed all hatches.

Zuccarello got mad because Torts called him an interesting cat? I thought that was a compliment?

Obviously not. Wasn't just that, back in 2011-12 Hartford coaches said he was more than ready for the NHL, but Torts kept sending him back. Slats didn't like it, and it was part of the reason why Torts got fired.

Yeah I never understood why Trots had it in for Zuccarello, by all accounts Torts should've liked him a lot since he always left it all on the ice and never backed down when things got physical.

Zucc is short and euro and Torts is an idiot

Zuccarello before 2013 wasn't close to the player he is today. He started on the 3rd line under AV and developed into what he is today. Blame Torts for a lot, but when it comes to Zuccarello and Kreider, he was 100% right to have them sent them to Hartford

Eeeh. Wolski-Stepan-Zuccarello was a dominant (and sheltered) line in 2010-11. Then Torts broke it up for some reason and benched Zuccarello for the playoffs (with poor results mind you). Then he sent Zucc down for not putting up points on the 4th line in 2011-12.
