McPhee is making decisions in Vegas. It looks like Lindberg will end up in the bottom 6 rather than top 6 for them.

Knowing McPhee he is surely auctioning of a couple of contracts that cannot be waived to the highest bidder.

I would love to see Gorton trying to work something out with McPhee regarding Lindberg. We are not set on the 4th line, I wouldn’t bet on it at least. Based on the price Vegas got for Picard I can’t imagine that the price would be extremely high.

Don’t get me wrong, Lindberg would hardly be a game changer for us. A 2nd rounder would be too much IMO. But if Gorton could get something done giving up less I would definitely be for it. Continuity and depth is so important. We will get injuries. Is Chytil ready? Even so, I much rather see Desharnais as our 13th forward and Carey as our 14th than 10-11...

Further, even if Anderson is ready next season — he isn’t a 4th line center. Who is our 4th line center for the future? If nothing else, Lindberg could be a Sergei Nemchinov type in that role for a handful of years.

Three things that I think make return for Stepan > than anticipated return for Turris:
1) Stepan is younger
2) Stepan is more consistent
3) Stepan was locked down for the next four seasons to a budget-friendly deal, Turris is an impending UFA in his earning prime.

Ottawa can't in good conscience expect anything close to what Stepan got us.

Yeah but I said that they will want a lot not as much. How much are you prepared to give up for a rental center that doesn’t make any sense for us after this year?

I would take Turris for Boo and Reutanen. I wouldn’t be interested if the price was a 1st...

Are we dealing Miller now for a rental?

From which side?
Turris is a fine player but he's been in the NHL almost twice as long as JT and has only put up over 40 points three times.

Meanwhile Miller has done it 3 times and he's 4 years younger

Trading JT for a expiring contract player like this is extremely shortsighted in my opinion

I don't know what it would take. Obv, I'm for buying on the cheap, preferably Nash could be involved. I don't think you move a Hayes unless there's a negotiated extension prior to the deal. Miller is one of my untouchables.

Yes, it`s a gamble, but u get a more experience player in Kyle T.
And we can`t sign him next year - he will probably ask for 6 mil $ +

I don`t see this deal possible to get him here without risk of assets we can`t afford to use.

G buyout will increase in cost for about +1 mil cap. next season for instant.

Kyle Turris wants a big contract. He will be a group III this summer. His agent is Kurt Overhardt. You guys don't check on the status of the player's contract before proposing this stuff?

While neither Turris nor Senators general manager Pierre Dorion talked publicly Friday, it’s believed that Turris and his agent, Kurt Overhardt, are seeking a contract extension of seven or eight years, too long for the Senators to stomach.

“I’m not going to talk about negotiations,” Overhardt said Friday.

They can agree on the money. Term is the huge issue.

concur.

Kyle T. will probably end up with Hurricans or Coyotes who might have cap space - I doubt Ottawa can afford to re sign him so they are trying to get something for him before he go on the free market. Ottawa has barely 3 mil $ cap space.

I'll eat my hat if he goes back to Phoenix. He left there on really bad terms when he was first traded from there to Ottawa.

Turris on a 7 year deal? No thanks. If we are contenders and can get him without trading a 1st for this draft I might go after him at the deadline

Carolina wants Tavares.

Are you saying we got a good return for Stepan? I don’t think so.

Stepan got a top 10 pick and a young NHL-ready D with a good chance of being a top 4 D.

Eric Staal got a pair of second rounders and a prospect who's only one year younger than DeAngelo and further away.

Stepan got a significantly better return and Staal is a significantly better player.

A top 10 pick and a young NHL RHD is a massive haul.
