If Panarin is one potential -- albeit very longshot -- target if he and Torts cannot function together it will also be interesting to follow the potentially emerging powerhouses that might be looking for veteran players and have some really valuable assets to move. Mainly EDM, Toronto and Buffalo. Colorado traded Sundin and Nolan among others to get Clarke and Ozolinsh.

Puljujarvi is one potential asset EDM might consider moving if they think a Cup may be within reach. Reinhart might be one guy in Buffalo. I am not interesting in many of Torontos potential assets, like say Kapanen. Might be missing someone in Toronto.

Ok folks. Take this as your final warning. Bring up DeAngelo's political beliefs again and you will dearly regret it. I am so sick of going through this. Most of you (well, all of you that just talked about it) are adults. We have posted warning, after warning, after warning about this.

Puljujarvi I would love on this team but I don't see the Oilers moving him

The team has squat in terms of forward prospect outside of him

May as well lump me in with the group who thinks draft, development, youth is the primary way to go. Does not mean I would be trying to trade any players above any age, but that is the way the CBA is structured, under the cap it's about performance per cap dollar and as players get to UFA age they cost more cap and they bring about the same or a declining performance. Zucc is on a good deal for what he brings, for the Rangers or for any other team. That would be a tough choice to move him while he still has that sort of value or keep him because he has that same value, but he is more on the exception side than the rule side when it comes to contracts.

then us? pretty much everyone lol

RB is older, Bern's proposals are like they're from a 8 y/o that just took 5 extra ritalins..........haha both their lineups would be sponsored by Pampers.
LOL I meant which of the dog crap and cat crap was younger. That is how you choose the winner. :D

I'm not crying; you're crying!

Awesome article.

And on another note, the Tarasenko article was great as well. He seems like such an awesome dude. Man, imagine if we took him (or Cam Fowler, for that matter) instead of McIlrath like almost all of us wanted. Ugh, would've been franchise-changing. That is the perfect instance of where the fans knew better than the front office.

oh boy does that sound good to my ears.

I'd trade Hayes for him right now.

kyle turris is a legit talent. my worry is the contract. he wants to get paid. not sure what we move to get him but we do have young defenseman and rick nash

having said that, a 28 yr old right handed turris added to this team is like adding a bigger, faster, better derek stepan. turris is a very very good player.

I think if you trade for Turris it's a rental unless you dump a lot of salary elsewhere.

He wants a long contract, he's going to want a big contract, are you willing to give him $6.5 mill per season for 7 years and until he's 35? That's a tough one

nope. the scariest contract is this one for him. prime is like 25 -27 yrs old in this league. he's a good solid r shot pivot but he's going to be too expensive.

It don't have to have any bearing whatsoever on what EDM plans to do, but from my POV I would definitely be looking for a little bit more experienced leader on the roster next to Draisatl and McDavid. And I wouldn't take my time with it, the window to compete for this team won't open or close for good, like look at Pittsburgh, but you have different phases and the window for the first phase where you probably have the best shot (like when Chi and Pitt won their first cup post 05') to win, isn't open very long at all.

And if those years starts to add on without getting that Cup, you start to get into that losing Washington mentality pretty fast...

Is that piece worth a package of say Nurse and Puljujarvi if it can push them over the top the coming years? Definitely!

What players want and what players get are two different stories, as we’ve learned of late. I think he’d lower the demand somewhat to come to NYR and play on a line with folks like Miller and Zuccarello.

Ottawa saw what Gorton got for Step and will want a good return for Turris.

Three things that I think make return for Stepan > than anticipated return for Turris:
1) Stepan is younger
2) Stepan is more consistent
3) Stepan was locked down for the next four seasons to a budget-friendly deal, Turris is an impending UFA in his earning prime.

Ottawa can't in good conscience expect anything close to what Stepan got us.

I didn't realize, but Turris was at U Wisconsin for a season with Smith and McD...not to mention the five seasons he shared with Mika Z

Nash and DAng for Turris
side deal Beargloves + 3rd
for
2nd
if they want to expand the package

Shatty Pionk are RDs
Graves

Depending on where things are at end of year
and how Bruins are rolling at TD
w/LA better ready to step up

we can do something around
remaining rental Turris + Buchnevich for McAvoy

Hot take but I think Stepan was worth more

I get that moving him freed the space for Shattenkirk but they should have gotten another pick or prospect for him
