Kenzie Lalonde will be the first great female NHL play-by-play announcer.

The voice is less grating than some but we'll have to see how the substance is. You require more than a good voice.

I'm not sure if it's an American thing or what but so many of these female announcers use their vocal fry in a really annoying way. Why?

She's very good and I really like Pounder too. Glad people are noticing. There are some terrible women out there that taint the water and it's great to have good examples. I would also like to see more of the men be good as well since there are so many morons omg

Play by Play announcers are generally just voices though, not much personality. I'll take Kenzie over Dean Brown's constant self deprecating food issues any day of the week for sure

I feel like Pounder has the smarts to be a GM one day. Maybe I'm wrong, but her analysis is always excellent.
Yep

TSN continues to put out a better produxt and attract better people in roles. But Pounder definitely seems like she has any avenue she wants

Jennifer Botterill.

Botterill is boring and preachy. Every bit she does reads ike a high school essay

Kenzie is a star in the making and Pounder, pound for pound is one of the best analysts out there. Kenzie is likeable. Also good in Shorsey.

TSN are lucky to have em. Leah Hextall needs to be put out to pasture.

My personal favorite is Gord Miller. His sense of humor is priceless! Really likeable.

I like Dean but I'm an old man.

He's better for radio anyway.

I'm old as well, but he bugged me trying too hard to come up with catchphrases that would make his mark like SCRAM-BULLLLL

I did like the days of him and Denis Potvin as the colour guy struggling to say something coherent through his alcohol fueled slurring. Overtime games in the playoffs really accentuated that as time went on lol

Stuff like that is why I was terrified at the prospect of the Jackets' radio guy (Bob McElligott) possibly being promoted to TV play-by-play - he tries to do that sort of thing all the time, and every single time it manages to sound poorly contrived and forced. His predecessor, George Matthews, had similar little quips but they flowed naturally and actually added to the broadcast, and I think McElligott was hoping to do something similar and has been Trying Too Hard ever since.

Thankfully we went in a different direction when Rimer retired.

I think he's terrible for radio.

When he did play by play for Sportsnet(?) he was decent as he was forced to stay focus and not ramble.

One the radio he becomes a version of girls gone wild. Pair him with Gord Wilson and you get 2 drunk uncles shooting the shit during game play.

That’s why I like it.

When you’re down 4-0 I find his dark bitterness funny.
