Here's another guy who probably wouldn't be expensive and who's team may be looking to shuffle some things around for their own run. Steven Lorentz. He played more center last year than this year and his TOI has been cut back dramatically. He makes $1.05m this season. He's generally a pretty physical player as well

If he is valuable and it's important to have depth then why is Florida trading him from what would be a 6th or 7th round pick? They have the 2nd most pts in the league. They don't need the cap space and they can just include him in any trade if they did need to clear more space. They did it with Vatrano but Vatrano made a lot more money and that helped open the space to fit Giroux. If they really needed space now, I'd think they'd rather waive him and hope he goes unclaimed to keep him in the organization rather than trade him for what amounts to nothing.

Pedantic as usual.

Zibs has a 1.49 pts/60 rate 5v5. That's garbage. Brodzinski has a better rate.

The point is he sucks at 5v5 and it's a major hinderance to the team

As I said, lazy. And I don't have the patience to try to educate someone who thinks that way so I will allow you to continue on in ignorance.

Misusing stats is worse than not knowing the stats at all and you're doing a really good job at it so keep it up.

respectfully my friend, more of the same = more of the same.
stop adding vets esp min value vets
pay + get foundation pieces, who are principally best quality youth

it helps when doing this not to have given away so many assets
This. Good teams don't blow a lot of money on the bottom 6. The third line is a great place for prospects, and the 4th line can often be filled by either fringe prospects or veterans on the scrap heap who want to keep their career going (like bringing back Vesey last year), and who still have some value at league minimum.

Spending 3.6M of cap on Goodrow is a killer.

Tell me the name of the last “lesser” D on the Rangers top pair that the majority fans didn’t shit on?

Misusing stats? lol. Nearly every metric leads to Zibs being average to well below average at 5v5.

You just get triggered when people use certain stats/verbiage for some reason.... It's not that serious. It obviously isn't an absolute determined future outcome.

Missing the point all together, or are you arguing Zibs is good 5v5?

Get. Kreider. Off. Zibanejad's. Line.

Kreider was a massive 5 v 5 play driver up until last year. Zib is rubbing off on him too much.

Give me these lines for 5 games and see how they go

Panarin-Trochek-Laf
Cuylle-Zib-Vesey
Kreider-Edstrom-Kakko
Goodrow-Bonino-Brodzinski

Miller-Fox
Lindgren-Trouba
Gus-Schneider

Chytil centers the 1st line if he comes back

Trochek slides down to the Kreider-Kakko line.

Zib needs a play driver on his line to be successful. Cuylle is just good enough at this point at finishing that the line could work well.

Bonino out and Edstrom in his place once everyone's healthy. Wheeler gets shot into the sun. Acquire a bottom six rental with a motor a la Derek Dorsett at the deadline. Go to war. A lot of "maybe's" in this however.

Only problem I have is that offense goes to die with Kakko. Whatever line combo Laviolette conjures up to be some version of a shutdown line in the playoffs is the line Kakko should be on. Right now, I think Vesey and Kakko makes two-thirds of a quality shutdown line. Zibby fits the role in the middle here because he doesn’t generate anything 5v5 anymore, but we’d still have to call it line 1 so his feelings aren’t hurt.

A team that would.probably take Goody with his contract is Chicago. They just overpaid Foligno to give Berardi some grit/protection. Goody would fit in well with them and maybe be a nice trade chip down the road with 50% retained. By then they should be closer to competitive.

Would he really accept a trade?

Rangers should have kept Edstrom after that 1st game where he got his 1st NHL goal. He is way better than Brodstinky.. does Drury have an eye for talent or only picked Brodzinski cause he is a vet and older? Brodzinski has done nothing.

Well thats the thing. They've given too much. They don't have ammo
...
But do you get what you are saying?
Instead of grabbing the bull by the horn, and not doing any further damage on top of what was done already, some would continue these half ass measures that only bleed us further.

We have enuf ammo if we do it my way and repupose some of our better assets
if not, expect more of da same

That makes me think the problem is Zibanejad, and the eye test bears that out.

He floats, won't shoot from high danger areas at even strength, and is predictable AF on the PP, and is responsible for half the touches that end up going the other way when he either misses the net on the patented overhyped one timer, or gets beat along the wall for a loose puck.

Kreider hasn't exactly been a bull along the wall either, but when the puck heads in his direction for a battle it's at least 50/50, and he's good in front of the net.

Zibanejad is only good off the rush, and only sometimes, and that's only if the D and the goalie haven't already figured out he's going to try the cross ice goalmouth pass to Kreider at the weakside no matter how fast he enters the zone or what angle he takes to the net.
He needs to take whatever pills Panarin is taking this season.

Yeah. Florida is not selling. Nor is Detroit for that matter.

Zero reason going back and forth with that bozo. I've been on this site long enough now to know the guys shtick. Just about every post from the sad little man is some gotcha condescending retort. He never really offers anything meaningful to the boards, its generally just to take digs at people... I guess it gives him fulfillment from his sad life. Emphasizing metrics that everyone else has access to as if it's some enlightened position bestowing upon the ignorant masses. Generally this site isn't bad, even if you don't agree with someone... but there's been a few posters over the years that are just completely off-putting trash

Lindgren is an offseason move if anything. He's not getting dealt during the year.

Ghost could barely find a job this year. Pass.

I’d try at the draft. Get some young player back in the deal and Im a Lindgren fan. His game does not last in his mid 30s. I can see him breaking down at 30 to be honest. Not worth it. Love his heart and effort and the player, but his game is injury prone.
