Larkin failed a holland rebuild and is now halfway from ruining another. Two generations of failure to his name
Shussssh... you make no sense.

It's not Larkins fault he's the best player on his teams, no matter how you feel about him.(Good/Bad/Inbetween).

Why is Larkin the team's best player for 7-10 years now should be your question. Plenty, plenty of time to identify a better player than him and go get one.

It's the people collecting the talent that's the problem. You need two or three players just like Larkin, or better to have a chance. We're lucky he wanted to stay, imagine if he decided to leave via-UFA and what this team would look like. Rebuild till 2044.

Raymond js way better than Larkin and it’s not even close. He’s been carrying him for two years now.

Our top line is not the issue. We don't have much behind them. We need two solid scoring lines to be a real factor. Having a Copp, Compfer or Kasper centering the third line would look good to me. Rasmussen as a 4th li e center works. All of these guys are in roles above their talent level now.

Adding a Marner and a FA center target makes this a good team immediately. Money being wasted comes off the books the next two years and their is still talented guys coming up.

I really like this team two years from now. Sucks to be disappointed now.

if your best player would have scored at least a goal a game over the last three games (something that Dylan has accomplished) we would have probably won all of those and there would be no point for this discussion. But he failed to score even once...

This. The third line of Ras Burgers Soderblom is good when they’re together but the 2nd line is a net negative. Kane is bad 5v5. Compher is an offensive black hole. Cat deserves better. Any line Tank is on is just…bad.

The 4th line this year has to be amongst the worst I’ve seen in all my years of watching hockey. Motte/Veleno/Fischer is probably worse than what we iced in 19-20.

Holl/Gus is about as bad as Bowey/Daley.

I got flamed earlier in the season for criticizing Larkin. Now it seems everyone thinks he’s awful with no pushback?
You got flamed because it's the easiest cop out in the world.

Blaming Raymond/Larkin was a cheap-shot from our coach even. How about ALL THE OTHER PLAYERS DRAGGING ASS. Can't really blame them because then it highlights how bad the rest of the team is.

Look at the post above me and THOSE GUYS are the reason we suck, not because Larkin/Raymond had a rough patch in a 82 game season.

Lets just trade Larkin and see how good it gets.

Larkin and Raymond are paid 8+ million. The expectations are not the same for them and for the scrubs.l behind them.

Hell I don't even wanna defend them anymore. You think they're the problem, trade them. Roll out the Dries/Shine idc.

IF their contracts are bad and they are losers, Yzerman again is the ultimate loser for signing them to the contracts.

They arent the only problem, but in a 5 game losing streak where they've both played poorly, and are the highest paid forwards on the team, they are a big part of the problem.

I hate that most of this forum think that playing well = leadership. They're not really related at all.

"How can Larkin not be a good leader? Look at all the goals he scores!"

That's like saying "What do you mean we won't make the playoffs? Our sweaters are red!"

"How can Larkin be a good leader? Look how much they are losing!"

If the team is cohesive. If they get along. If there is no tension between the players. The leadership is fine. Tactics and/or ability to execute may be mediocre, but that has nothing to do with player leadership.

Not only is that a must win, we also need to "hope" the Devils fall apart without Hughes. And even then our schedule seems too hard, compared to what we see from our team the last games..

Agreed. I can see being unhappy with Larkin's performance lately but it's strange how quickly that snowballs into "maybe he's not a good leader."

I've been watching hockey a long time to see many top players have their "leadership" questioned, including Yzerman. Then if they win the Cup that goes away. When what changed wasn't their leadership but the right players around them.

That's not to say some guys can't be questionable leaders, but I see nothing of the sort with Larkin.

Have people already forgotten how the team repeatedly fell apart when he was out of the lineup?

I will defend Larkin here. He came out and scored a goalscorers goal on his own from an impossible angle vs the best team in the conference.
Then followed by Seider.
It is obvious that both Larkin and Seider came out to play and lead by example.
However we don't have anything after our big dogs.

On a team of super star players with the U.S. he just took a leadership role a couple weeks ago to the point most expect him to wear a letter at the Olympics. Brady Tkachuk balled his eyes out yesterday. I am also old enough to remember when Yzerman’s leadership as a player was questioned.

Losing sucks, but it generally isn’t the guys actually holding up their end of the bargains fault. I am not blaming Larkin, Raymond or Seider for this.
Then who are you blaming ? My captain of my beer leafs team just willed us to a 3-2 series comeback finals win after being down 0-2… leaders matter in whatever situation you are in. He wasn’t crying bc his brother lost his entire jaw and 3 teeth, kept playing, blood everywhere. He kicked his brother in the balls, told him to man up we got a championship to win. Larkin would have told his brother to head to the locker room.

Larkin should have been traded years ago. Wings would be way better off going forward in the next 2-3 years. This team won’t compete until at least 27-28, maybe.

Ya came out good but it's gotta be 60 min good. That's what leaders do. Larkin had the bad turnover. Seider did a lame job defending and then we get scored on short handed.
