He can’t be the face of the franchise that’s for sure. We gave it a shot hoped he would grow into it but looking back at a decade of red wings hockey it’s a pretty embarrassing standard of excellence that he set. He kind of embodies the Michigan favoritism that’s plagued the culture of this team. Just cause it sounds cool on paper

I think you are right. I have bagged on him for being 'mid' in the past, and it's mostly been because I was pretty disappointed that he never consistently pushed the envelope of what his tools could be worth. It's like he got stuck in a space of feeling comfortable managing to just consistently avoid being realbad. Maybe this will be a wake-up call, but this team isn't losing much, because I really don't think he would have ever tried to get out of his comfort zone here

No second line center, no reliable 3rd pair on the D, no reliable goalies, no big forwards (have you seen Protas today?).

It is miracle what we did in December and January.

I don’t believe it’s a complaint, but more so an observation concerning Larkin and yes some players will carry a team via generating offensive plays, defensive reads, or big time saves…Unfortunately we don’t have any of those guys.

I like Larkin as a player. I’m not in the locker room so I have zero clue as to how he is as a leader, obviously. But I’ve always kind of questioned him a bit after we all saw him cry in that press conference after Bertuzzi was traded. Yzerman and Lidstrom would’ve never.

On a team of super star players with the U.S. he just took a leadership role a couple weeks ago to the point most expect him to wear a letter at the Olympics. Brady Tkachuk balled his eyes out yesterday. I am also old enough to remember when Yzerman’s leadership as a player was questioned.

Losing sucks, but it generally isn’t the guys actually holding up their end of the bargains fault. I am not blaming Larkin, Raymond or Seider for this.
