lol cmon, these people

Like, I get it, especially when you're in the room with these guys and you see how they sacrifice and there's probably a whole thing about being easy to play with and doing this thing or that thing, but the reality and bottom line is...that shit doesn't matter when you look at results. Whatever kind of teammate, whatever he brings to the locker room, whatever players THINK about Lindgren is not showing up in the results in any positive way. I think you could have said that years ago but at this point he's a negative and no amount of "you just don't understand the game" changes the literal data and results that show he is not playing well

55-8 D Pair:

Hanifin has an 8-team NTC and it's already been reported he doesn't want to go to a Canadian team, so that eliminates Toronto, Edmonton, and Vancouver who are looking for D. Other American suiters like Boston, Tampa, and Florida don't many assets left to offer for trade. That leaves only NYR, Detroit, Devils, and maybe Vegas as possible destinations. I would take a run at Hanifin, then figure out what to do with Trouba, Lindgren, and Gus this summer.

If we're moving our 1st anyway, I'd much rather deal it for someone like Hanifan who actually moves the needle than either 1) a rental, and 2) someone who doesn't move the needle like Laughton or Vatrano/Henrique. Just because trading a 1st for Goodrow worked for Tampa, doesn't mean that it was a smart move. They must be kicking themselves for trading all of those assets for Jeannot.

I'd be interested in him but what hte cost would be is certainly a big issue. If they demand Perreault, I wouldn't do it. If the demanded Othman...do you do it?

Probably not, but a large part of my post was about how it shouldn't be that expensive (ie blue chip prospect like Othmann or Perrault) to acquire Hanifan since there are only a handful of teams that can trade for him.

Lindholm returned a lot of pieces, but none of them were the same pedigree as an Othmann or Perreault. Brzustewics is promising but still just a recent 3rd rounder who hasn't proven anything outside of the OHL. Plus, there are many teams looking for centers vs. only a few teams able to trade for Hanifan.

Edit: Everyone intentionally misspelling Hanifin last week has made it impossible for me to get it right.

yah, true it might be a case of we hear how expensive he'll be right up until calgary has to make a move or lose him for nothing in the offseason and their ask comes down

I think a 1st is a given but past that yeah it's tough to move your best prospects and that first when you're pretty bare at the moment

you really have to commend the coaching staff and front office for the moves they've made the last month or so.

- Bonino and Pitlick sent packing
- Rempe and Edstrom called up into the lineup
- Brodzinski given more ice time and then has his contract extended
- Miller and Fox finally put together (possibly, hasn't happened yet)

and now if Lindgren-Trouba is really going to be a thing they need to be given 3rd pair minutes

Another thing to note is that we won't be able to afford or have room in the lineup to play all of Kreider, Laf, Kakko, Cuylle, Edstrom, Othmann, Berard, Sykora, etc. At some point, some of these players will need to be moved for prospects or picks.

We’re not trading for a Hanifin, Guenzel, Tanev, Chychrun etc. It’s a fun thought but not happening. Even Henrique might be overkill depending on the price.

A buyers market is definitely possible with the secondary pieces Drury might look at: wennberg, Duclair, Eberle, Sturm, Beavillier, Kuraly, Roslovich, and many other UFAs that could be a fit for us.
Right, bc we are the only team in the playoff race looking for secondary pieces haha

looks like trocheck picked up laffys helmet removal tricks of the past...

Article I read acknowledged that but he is a UFA so I guess they are listening to some extent. I remember seeing something like Crosby going to management to extend him, so I doubt he leaves. I dont envy the position the Penguins are in, but they deserve it.

I don't envy the position the Penguins are currently in, but if I had three Cups in the past 15 years I would accept it as a consequence of success.

You kinda can't trade Crosby/Malkin, you can't get to rebuilding while they are here, but they are no longer really good enough to be a contender (even a playoff team). And they have nothing left to trade to even put themselves into a position.

The smart move on their part would have been to rebuild starting around 2020, 2021 or so, start selling off everything but Crosby/Malkin/Letang/Guentzel, and they might have a young set of kids to build around at this point for a final 3-4 year push.

That's why you tried to put him with Boo Nieves.

You knew we would still have a 58% GF with that line on the ice.
"knew" is a tad more credit than I deserve/seek

but no ?, I said if you put a solid force [Kreider] and a scorer [Zib] w/a facilitator [Nieves] it might be a successful formula

chemistry is obv a real thing and cK and MZ have/don't have it on and off, incl depending on other linemate and if Zib is/is not pivot

No guarantees, but again no reason not to have tried it and that we CONTINUE to have to figure out Z as pivot or not PROOVES it was a good idea to at least try
