That’s a 3 year weighted average. He’s above average this season and can get buried at any point.

Even with that in mind, given his age, this year is not the norm and would lend itself to believe this year’s body of work thus far is not sustainable. Sure his contract can be buried, but go get help for the playoffs.

Frank believes Hanifin wants to play in TB. He would sign an extension in Tampa. Chris Johnston said the Lightning are interested in Hanifin. They have Sergachev's LTIR money. What is TB sending to Calgary? Their picks belong to Chicago and Nashville. TB could probably get Hanifin for $7M AAV in Florida. He turned down $7.5M AAV. 8 years.

This is the first time he has had an opportunity for prolonged use as a center playing with decent players though. The '3-year' weighted average is a joke in this case too because here are his stats from the last 3 years. He has played almost the same amount of games THIS YEAR as he has the prior two years combined

Article I read acknowledged that but he is a UFA so I guess they are listening to some extent. I remember seeing something like Crosby going to management to extend him, so I doubt he leaves. I dont envy the position the Penguins are in, but they deserve it.

Eller is the guy. I'd move Brodzinski down a line and play Eller at 3C
He's a UFA at years end and all indications are, he is not re-signing

Eller is a good fit. Laviolette coached him as well. He is over the hill but he was great for the Caps during their cup run many moons ago. 10 goals this year so its not like we'd be getting another Bonino.

I mean cmon. Now we’re going to blame the Teams that “he just wasn’t given a chance”. This is a low hockey IQ player. He has been a plug who at times makes up for a lot of his deficiencies with his speed blinding people. He needs the perfect situation/linemates to hang around in the NHL.
By no means should he be our 3C. 12th/13th forward sure. But the point being made his we must upgrade there.

I'd be curious what his stats show for this season as compared to the 3-year average.
I really don't care how he has looked in a 4th line role playing with Ryan Carpenter from years past. If he fits on that line and produces at a 3rd line measurement, then he fits.
