Not sure our defense looks so hot this season with Housley running things.
You can’t blindly blame the D coach while the forwards are so irresponsible every game

Kakko is just going to take minutes from Vesey while Wheeler goes on business as usual.
This is 100% what will happen

Might be time to let Shesterkin chill a couple games and work with Allaire as a reset. Something really off with him lately

Ryan Lindgren was good last season.
Ryan Lindgren is not good this season.

As long as Blake Wheeler and Johnny Brods patrol the RW, this team will be mediocre with easily first round crap out potential.

Panarin, Trocheck and Kreider are carrying this team. Cuylle has been good. Laf isn't Casper the ghost anymore.

Has Fox become meh because of Lindgren?

Saw on Twitter that many Ranger fans see KK coming back as some kind of season saving grace. Really?

Rangers fans at MSG booed this team off the ice last night. Lav said it wasn't effort. It was mental.

Blake Wheeler must be shocked that Lav keeps sending him over the boards. Blake was a very good player who's legs are now shot. Reminds me of Martin St Louis and Marcel Dionnes' final 30 games with the Rangers. It was painful.

Waiting patiently for the coach cryers to start propelling the "FIRE LAVY!!" vomit.

Who is Drury going to trade that's good to get a player in return that's good AND fits under the salary cap?

That Jaime Drysdale for Cutter Gauthier trade last night was awesome. Daniel Briere spent 10 minutes with the media in a non presser and gave some great insight to the trade.

I don’t know what’s going on with Igor. Sure you can analyze each of the goals and find blame in a specific player (Miller, Bonino, Goodrow). But at the end of the day, Igor has to make a save and he’s not making them.

He was good for a 4-5 game stretch. But outside of that, he’s been pretty underwhelming. If he isn’t hot come playoff time, the team is going nowhere. Their #1 priority should be helping him find his game by April.

The Rangers don't need a high end addition. Honestly just a couple of depth forwards who can skate and move the puck in the right direction would be a huge boost.
Lavs was double shifting Panarin and Lafreniere at 1RW last night. It seems he feels that’s where the hole is. I doubt Kakko is going to be able to step in there.

I'm good double shifting Lafreniere or Panarin or anyone really. What I would like to see is a real 3rd line that allows for rolling of 3 lines. Kakko will help extend that option I believe.

Defense aside, this guy is usually a wall, can't totally lay it at his feet but he isn't himself.

If Chytil is gonna be out we need a center to go between Cuylle and kakko, Bonino or Goodrow ain't it.

I agree the 3rd line will be a lot better with Kakko. Not sure how successful double shifting our top forwards will be.

All you have to do is mitigate the issues of the bottom six by barely playing them.

See: Colorado. They do this routinely and have for years.

Rather than trying to spend money and assets on improving the bottom six just severely limit their ice time.

If hockey was always played with a 15 man roster of 9 forwards and 6 defensemen would people really arguing to expand the rosters to add 3 more forwards to get it to 12? Doubt it.

If it were me, I would probably roll with something like:

Panarin-Trochek-Lafreniere
Kreider-Zibanejad-Vesey/Kakko
Cuylle-________-Vesey/Kakko
Goodrow-Bonino-Brodzinski

The issue is the 3C spot. If Chytil is out long term, then they have top find at least a serviceable center somewhere. In the meantime, I'd probably play Wheeler and possibly play Vesey, Wheeler or Goodrow at 3C and then double shift Trochek/Zibanejad when possible. I'd also probably remove Zibanejad from the PK in favor of Bonino and Goodrow to allow for more ES time for Mika.

Wheeler might stick out less as 3C than he does at 1RW.

Every time this team loses a game this fanbase is as toxic and doom and gloom as could be. It's very old now. No ****, a team with a play-driving C missing three months, a shot suppressing RW missing two months has made this team weaker up front. Color me shocked. We knew two years ago with Gallant that they needed an addition and that their lineup then wasn't going to be their lineup when the playoffs started. It's no different now. Nick Bonino was never acquired to be given this much run as 3C. Drury knows this. This is also why the galaxy brains that claimed Drury didn't need to sign Trocheck because they had Chytil should take a seat. Imagine if he settled for some stop gap 3C Stastny or some vet and they had no Troch or Chytil right now? You'd all be overloading the hotlines.

Wonder if they call someone else up, or activate Kakko? Would imagine Kakko could use a bit more time to get up to speed practising fully without restrictions.

Reports on Twitter is that it's expected they will call someone else up.

And Lindgren has more mileage / damage on him at 26 than Girardi did. Lindgren is an OLD 26

This. Lindgren won't make it to 30.
Well, it's hardly "the same mistake," or "they never learn." Signing him to 3 or 4 years at G's $3.5 plus inflation is a world away from G's 6 years at $5.5 plus inflation deal.

Lindy will quite possibly be COOKED at 30, but a 4-year deal for him would make that decline someone else's problem, not ours.
