Me and the boys on our way to break up the Panarin-Trocheck-Lafreniere line.

I think we should roll with Panarin, Trocheck, and Lafreniere.

By roll, I mean roll them all game.

From his first two seasons as a NYR is 2 of 64 points garnered on the pp a lot? 1 of his 24 goals were on the pp.

Also I would be careful of trading Berard. He has a good rookie year in Hartford and still feel can be a very good homegrown bottom 6 guy in a year or two.
I'd only throw in Berard in that kind of deal if it got a young center like Greig added to the deal.

20-93-24
10-16-13
50-Greig-91
26-12/21-17

PP1: Same as now
PP2: Greig, 13, 50, 91, 56

If Chytil's healthy, he takes Greig's spot on line 3 and PP2, and you have a decent prospect in the 4C role who can play 2 way hockey and insurance on Chytil for future years. If not, then the above is decent.

Any winger goes down, you have Othmann waiting in the wings.

Could the Rangers fit Nick Bjugstad if Arizona flounders?

I am looking at UFA's for next off-season and I am trying to expand the search for potential trade candidates at this deadline.

Joel Armia
Yanni Gourde
Jordan Greenway
Nick Bjugstad
Always wanted Armia.

Could Drury convince Vancouver to trade Kusmenko who has been a healthy scratch this year for Goodrow? They save money this year which should help them. If their plan was to buyout Kuzmenko this off-season his buyout is as follows:

Next year for Vancouver looks like it might be tight based on Petersson and Hronek getting their deals and needing to replace guys like Myers, Cole, Zadorov, Blueger. Perhaps they would value the ~$2.75m in cap savings next year that Goodrow would provide as a buyout candidate or perhaps they like his ability for the bottom-6 for next year to see if he can rebound.

Im not touching Kuzmenko. Canucks are better and not playing him. That’s a red flag. Also the last thing the Rangers need is another LW that probably needs PP time. Not the right fit

Wild Cards are looking real tight right now. Especially in the East.

Only 6 teams are truly 'not contending' for a Playoff Spot. limited supply massive demand

Kuzmenko requires top line time, but is being benched because he can't really hang defensively. He'd have a similar problem with us.
Kuzmenko isn't a buyout candidate, but he will be a sell low.
Vancouver won't need to buy him out.

We also dont really have a spot for him. We need bottom 6 players not top 6 players.
Kakko comes back we'll be fine with top 6 forwards. The problem will be wheeler and our 3c/4th line.

Kuzmenko is an extreme pass-first player who is allergic to shooting. He scored a bunch of goals last year because he shot 27%. It's been recently reported that Pettersson doesn't like playing with him because he's all over the place on the ice and he never knows where he'll be. He's been benched several times this year for being lazy and having no commitment to defense. I see no chance that Drury would have any interest in someone like this. They also wouldn't trade him for an overpaid 4th liner with term and it would be a very difficult sell to the owner to trade for someone with the intent to pay him 8M to buy him out to not play.

Just popping in to say the Rangers don't need a forward if Kakko (practicing fully soon) and Chytil (working out in Czechia per IG) are coming back this year. I'm sure there was handwringing over Othmann being benched late in a close game, but once he has 15-20 under his belt I think he can be a bigger contributor as guys get pushed down the lineup. Lets get Edstrom some more games too while were at it.

We need another D. Hanifin is the guy imo. I know everyone is worried about "who comes out of the lineup" but thats ignoring that someone will definitely get hurt *cough* Lindgren *cough*. And the outside the box thinking would be to rotate the 7 guys to keep them fresh, which I admit is wishful at best. Gustafsson has been a good find but Im ok with the 31 year old journeyman on essentially a vets minimum coming ot of the lineup in favor of another true top 4 D like Hanifin.

is Robertson+ 1st rounder + a conditional pick if Hanifin resigns enough? I feel like thats going to be the framework in any trade. In the offseason you dump Lindgren to recoup some picks and re-sign Gus

Miller-Fox
Hanifin-Trouba
Gus-Schneider

and our D is set for the foreseeable future.

We need top 9 players.

Ideally good ones that can bump certain people down/out of the lineup.

We also need a partner for Fox.

My concern with the whole defense thing is that I seriously doubt the Rangers see it as a problem or even remotely a spot to upgrade.

Their usage indicates to me that the Rangers feel they've stumbled upon Niedermeyer-Pronger in Miller-Trouba.

False narrative. Othmann was not benched late. He was benched early... he saw limited minutes throughout the entire game.

From the puck drop in the first period, Othmann rode the pine.
That's because his line was getting absolutely bodied and none of them played much at even strength.

I'm still patiently awaiting Laviolette's realization that Bonino is the causal factor here.

Whatever I didn’t watch the game. Not losing sleep over it neither. He got double shifted late the game before

They are going to stand pat, give Lindgren a dumb extension and then watch him physically deteriorate like Girardi. They don’t learn

This and Kakko with the bromance coming off a knee injury, I'm really not convinced he'll find his scoring touch, nor on PP2. Let him play wtih the bromance at even strength, but we still need another winger to bump Wheeler down to the 4th line. Tarasenko would be perfect if there was a way to get Ottawa to bite on Goodrow and him to waive his NTC. I suppose if he's told straight up he'll be bought out in the offseason if he doesn't accept and he won't see the ice in the playoffs and therefore wouldn't get a ring? There's just no way they can keep that contract on the books for 3 more years and try to win before this window closes.

The weird thing about Wheeler is he's I think he's in a "safer" position defensively playing with Mika than in a 4th line role, with this team's current roster

It seems counteractive to play him more minutes because he's been stinking up the joint, but Mika's line controls more of the play and helps cover up his mistakes by association than if he was buried on the 4th doing the same shit.

He'd probably be even worse if he was getting cold sitting on the bench for long periods as well. He's flubbing everything out there and just looks uncoordinated at times and thats with getting a regular shift. Anyway you wanna cut it, its a problem.

After a lot of reflection I think they see their win condition in the POs as having the two of them as a mobile shutdown pair who can match up against any line.

If they're not, they're not winning anyway. Fox they need doing other things, Schneider needs 2-3 more years of development, Gus gets diminishing returns and is prone to some true idiot stuff anyway.

They need Fox doing other things like what? His offense was better when he was getting heavier deployment.

There's only one Adam Fox and you can't match him up against everyone.

I also don't think its really best practice with their roster to optimize for December and January. Prisoner of the moment stuff and then you look up in March and you've overplayed your best guys.

They're not matching him up against anyone.

Laviolette doesn't really hard match his lines at all. They're definitely playing Trouba a lot more at 5v5.

He seems to be trying to create a more offensive role for Fox and it isn't working.
