Laf taking the next step with the right coaching gives me hope for Kakko - I think NYR just need to keep working with him - I still think theres another level to unlock with him offensively

Be that as it may, Rangers knew going in he'd have to go thru waivers to be sent down......they could have left him down there, but chose not to.

If they lose him then so be it. The guy is 30 years. Crushes it in the AHL and that's much more than I could ever dream of doing. But I'm not going to be upset if he gets waived and claimed.

He's also outscoring half our forward roster and happens to play our weakest position, so there's that.

all of his points were in a fluke three games that he never even came remotely close to replicating. good for him but the following 12 games prove beyond doubt he’s not an NHL player. plenty of scrubs have lucky games, this is just another one.

I wish Goodrow could catch some flukes with all that playing time he gets...

me and you both

i just want to see a rangers team where there’s no eye gougingly terrible players man. i don’t think it’s a lot to ask. this year we get three of them, though i wouldn’t call brodzinski terrible as much as way out of his league.

You're preaching to the choir.....obviously, they don't want to do this and, in a way, I can see their point. There is really no one in Hartford to bring up at the moment and there's definitely no one on the market either that won't cost assets and/or draft picks. As long as the team is doing well, there won't be many (if any) changes and certainly no major ones. Bringing up Edstrom and Othmann now for a look-see makes me think that Drury is planning/working on deadline deals to replace some of the dead wood.

The truth of the matter though is that we really should be patient. We came into the season knowing the bottom lines would be problematic at best. After resigning Laf and K'Andre, they had little to no cap space, which meant they had to go dumpster diving to fill out the remaining spots on the roster. I think we got the best of the dregs for what we had to spend. Plus, if I remember correctly, most people seemed happy with the choices at the time. Unless we can unload Goodrow or someone with a similar cap hit, I don't expect any major changes (such as trading for a top 6 player to play 1RW).

I do think we need to remember that GG would slide him up and down the lineup as needed and I think that's where a lot of the points he generated came from. This season he's been stapled in the bottom six and hasn't seen any top six time.

With that said it's very impressive what Jimmy Vesey has done in the bottom six. I would really like if PL would give him a spin with Mika and Kreids. It's not a permanent solution but Wheeler is certainly not it. And he was never supposed to be it which baffles me why PL seems stuck on that threesome.

Rangers gotta do something about Wheeler. He’s a total stiff out there and if he’s on the first line during a playoff run forget it. Zibanejad and Kreider being basically non factors isn’t helping but they need some help.

Kakko can’t come back soon enough.

Goodrow's got no excuse. You made the point with Vesey.

What team is going to want to spend like 90% of their new found cap on Goodrow? I’m not buying that there will be any new suitors. If anything there will be less as he has further declined

Dont forget some of these guys are playing through injuries. How much of it is Goodrow declining and how much of it is him playing with a blown up jaw while eating liquids. Obviously the offense isnt his strong suit. He's a strong PKer. His total usage has been lower this year. Teams could want him for the same reason Drury wanted him. Good resume. With the cap increase his cap hit will be run of the mill for third liners

Stop. He sucks either way. He went from sucks to injured and sucks

No, he is terrible.

I'd still like to know what that chunk was we saw skittering over the ice. Bone? Tissue? Prosthesis?

I have to imagine it's part of the mandible beneath the teeth, where your adult teeth develop.

Would have ripped through the layer of skin at the bottom of the mouth in order for him to be able to spit it out, if that wasn't vivid enough.

Who is it going to take to be unproductive next to Kreider and Mika for people to come around on RW not really being the issue with that line?

When Kakko comes back I'd throw him back on there. If they're not going to produce offense, at least when he was playing with them they didn't give up anything either.

When Chytil returns/they trade for another player, split up Kreider and Mika. I have little doubt Kreider goes back to being Kreider when away from Zibanejad. It's become the new Strome-Panarin.

The Goodrow contract is really killing this bottom 6, and the bromance needs to be broken up at least at even strength.

I'd trade any pick the Rangers currently have with Goodrow to Ottawa for Tarasenko at 50% retention if that was somehow possible to work. A 3.6m cap hit for the next 3 seasons is just brutal, and the Rangers need a pure goalscorer/sniper/shoot first player. I'd happily throw in Berard if Ottawa were willing to throw in a young center to sweeten the pot (Ridly Greig?) so that Wheeler could get relegated to the 4th line where he belongs based on how he's playing.

Even if Ottawa weren't willing to thrwo in a center, this would also free up money to acquire a 3C, and give us someone who can beat a goalie clean from the circle which we are lacking. The trick would be getting Goodrow to waive the no-trade. It would also save us a ton of cap over the next 3 years.

As for Goodrow's face injury, that has nothing to do with how he's playing...he's playing the same way he's always played, he's just not getting free points from being in the top 6 and on the PP as he has in the past. The only noticeable difference in his game with the face injury is that he doesn't fight obviously, everything else is the same slow dump and chase game, and occasionally breaking up a play defensively which leads people to think he's good defensively when his lines consistently give up more than they generate.

I'm sure you HF hockey geniuses have noticed the scouting report on how to play the Rangers over the last month by now

Dump the puck. Don't play the transition game against the NYR.

Attack our D with speed and relentless pressure. Rangers love the cross ice pass. Choke the middle, and the Rangers will give you 5 or 6 Grade A cough ups, dead center of the ice, in between the blueline and the dots in the O zone. Panther coach Paul Maurice implied this about their plan against the Avalanche and how it was similar to how they played the Rangers

Sit back in a soft zone and let the usual 5 on the Rangers make plays, and they will crush you.

Blake Wheeler is a boil, on a hemmroid, on the ass of a my buddies Bulldog.
