Untouchable means for no price. Laf I would agree with. Chytil and Kakko I'd disagree, those would simply be selling low, and I'm against that in principle, but selling low on andersson got us Cuylle.

I actually dont think Kakko is as bad as some posters are screaming. I think he's an upgrade on wheeler for the first line.

I think Chytil should go back with panarin, and that should balance out our 3 lines fairly well.

Heavy hockey isn't just dumbasses tho...
We have plenty of heavy. Trocheck/laf/trouba/miller/lindgren/wheeler/cuylle/Kakko (when he gets back)
are all players who have games that thrive in the playoffs.
Perry is an absolute shitheel who I dont want part of the team (and I'm not even considering what ever issues have him stepping away from the hawks at the moment).

Did I miss something with Perry? He’s a super PIA to play against but he’s very effective. Especially in a playoff series

IMO we need an Eric Staal type. Not many like him though

Goodrow and Bonino are attempts at it but it ain’t it. ROR would have been perfect

He hasn't been last 2 years. He scores some goals but defensively and offensively he's not worth it.

May I ask where you’re grabbing this from? Last year I see pretty neutral in terms of CF% at 5v5 and 25 points over 81 games playing around 11-12 minutes a night. He’s an effective PP2 net front option too.

I guess I’m missing why, Perry, at $900k for the remainder of the season as a 4th line RW who can be the net front guy on PP2 and add some sandpaper is a bad option as compared to paying a mid-round pick for what may only be a small upgrade through trade

Perry spent much of 2022 sub 50% xgf. He's continued that this season.
Additionally his play style is not worth the headaches it will cause.
His play style has reprecussions that the rangers likely don't want.

I just want to see Chytil back and see if he can overcome his knack for injuries. Want him to be a great 2-3 C. Kakko I am not sure about. Hate to lose a young top 5 pick, and I think he has a lot of upsides as Laf has shown, but I would entertain if it was a good trade.

Perry is a bad fit.

If you want to improve the 4th line, you do it by adding more juice to it. Perry moves about as well as Bonino does. Before getting to the off ice stuff (and no one knows how bad it was, but we do know it was bad enough for the Hawks to cut bait) it just doesn’t seem worth it.

I think we have a 4th line upgrade available in Edstrom already. Size? Hes got it. Wheels? He’s got em. The ability to do at least the bare minimum with the puck? Yup. Confident he would be a step up on both Bonino and Goodrow.

They could legit have a good group of forwards if they just had the balls to not play Goodrow and Bonino, or at the very least sit one of them. We’ll see if Lavi ends up using one (and I’d guess Bonino if he does) as a 13th forward.

I’ll keep ringing this bell, but our biggest issue is Lindgren. At least you can make it so that Goodrow and Bonino hurt you for less than 10 minutes a game. Lindgren is impossible to hide.

Calgary flames fan fic is fun.

Almost as fun as the Vancouver Canucks fan fic from a few pages back.
That's a lot of value for pending UFA Lindgren part II and a 6'4 215lb 4th liner with 5 hits in 32 games.

Imagine we get a center, let's say Henrique, and do these four lines in alphabetical order by center because they're not in any order.

Panarin-Chytil-Lafreniere
Cuylle-Edstrom-Kakko
Kreider-Trocheck-Vesey
Othmann-Zibanejad-Henrique

Imagine having four good lines with no bad players. That has to be against the CBA or something.

I'm okay with this if the Vesey line is referred to as the first line.

What do you guys think about this:

Kuzmenko (1.5M retained) for Goodrow, 2024 1st and Gabe Perrault?

Essentially getting a 39 goal scorer (at @ 4M) and dumping a useless contract but you would have to give up Perrault and a late 1st (for retaining).

Tocchet and his caffeinated arteries is benching and sitting Kuzmenko because he wants all his players to play a two way game which has Kuzmenko being misused. Guy can easily score 30 goals a season with ice time which is super frustrating.

what y’all say

I think Goodrow/1st for Kuzmenko no retainment is about fair value wise. A $1.5M retention that goes through next season is maybe worth a 2nd-round pick. Instead of Perreault, I think you'd be looking at a Zac Jones/Adam Sykora/Mcconnell-Barker type value added. I suspect the reason you are checking this proposal is because Perreault though. For fairly obvious reasons, it's unlikely they trade him and if they did, it'd be in a package for a better player than Kuz.

No way any GM would trade Perreault after the type of production he was having at BC and just had in the WJC

Giving up 2 first round picks for a guy being benched obviously seems dangerous but why exactly are you saying it is awful? The guy does have some impressive hands. He undressed Vince last season with a through the legs move. I know he is basically a no contact player but I do not know much about hi outside of his highlights.

I do not know if they are actively shopping KK but if he was asked for in a trade I'm sure he would be available for the right price. His trade value has not grown in his 5 years. If anything it has declined.
Yes its awful. Outside of his “impressive hands” he stinks. His all around game stinks. You have a successful Canucks team coached by Rick Tocchet benching him. Dont you think that tells you everything you need to know? And you want to trade (2) 1st round picks for that? If we wanted that type of player we should have just signed Kane instead of trading 1st round picks to acquire said player type. And yes I know part of this equation is Vancouver taking Goodrow. Still awful. Terrible. Garbage.

You might be right. Trocheck's defense metrics are trash this year but they were fine before. Chytil's are also fine. Trocheck a bit more so.

It's probably just Lafreniere. If you believe analytics, Lafreniere sucks defensive ability out of his line like a vampire, the way Kakko does with offense. And you know what? I don't care. I want Lafreniere to continue improving at offense and I just don't care.
That’s the mentality that everyone should have since day 1. Get them playing elite offense which you drafted them 1OA to do and then worry about the complete game later. Crap development teams bench them and limit their opportunity to focus on defensive issues and then you just end up with a shitty player who’s a shell of himself

Im not saying we should make that deal. As someone who hasn't seen him play much Im asking what is he like as a player if you or anyone else has watched him.
