Pittsburgh losing again…
The Penguins won’t blow it up even though they should. I called this when the smoke about Karlsson was reaching a crescendo.

At this point, the right move for them in my opinion would be to keep Sid around until he retires and trade Malkin and Karlsson for futures. If they end up trading Guentzel away on top of keeping all of these old guys I’ll enjoy this even more than I am right now.

The Pens and Caps went a lot of years as contending teams but there is a cycle to things. You will only stay on top so long and because the Pens have been stringing this out for years their development system is in shambles from trying to take one more shot after another. They don't really have a whole lot that they can trade very easily at this point. The Caps at least have been holding on to more draft picks and have a lot more youth to work with though whether a McMichael, a Lapierre or a Leonard are going to be top end players remains to be seen. They don't have a young player who looks like he'll be elite but they do at least have something to start with or a bit more than the Pens do.

It's why also why it's imperative for the Rangers to hang on to at least most of their top draft picks....also to have good drafting......and FWIW in the later rounds you're almost better off going for guys like Edstrom, Rempe, Chmelar, Ollas types......who might fit in more as bottom line or depth players than taking home run shots at guys who lead their junior teams in scoring but don't bring much else.

Rangers should talk to Arizona and ask about C Jack McBain. Has playoff style elements to his game, physical and good at faceoffs.

Honestly, if the cap didn’t flatline, Goodrows contract wouldn’t have been such an albatross. 3.6mil a year if the cap was 95m wouldn’t seem outrageous.
Didn’t the cap already flatline before goodrow was signed? It was poor cap management by Drury because it was signed post covid cba. You certainly make that case for the trouba since that is was pre-Covid. All of drury first ufa contracts were all too much for too long.

Did anyone see Frank Seravalli's trade proposal for Adam Henrique? Kakko and a 2nd round pick. That's ridiculous. I have no issues moving on from Kakko in the right deal. A 35 year old rental?

He doesn't feel teams are eager to move their first round picks. Edmonton is the team most likely to move their first round pick.

I wouldn't even consider trading Kakko for Henrique + 2nd. Seravalli is as out to lunch there as humanly possible.

Seravelli may have some sources with Canadian teams but he's completely out to lunch when it comes to anything Anaheim related. Just talking out of his fat ass.

Moving a young player like Kakko for a rental, just doesn't make sense. Rarely happens if ever, and Henrique isn't of the caliber where his return sets a new precedence.

Brooks and Boyle don't believe the Rangers play with enough emotion. Not enough fight/push back. Brooks wants to see what moves the Rangers make at the deadline. Rangers need more sandpaper. They are too easy to play against.

This group isn't built with those players. Team construction is an issue.

Every NHL Team has construction issues

Frank doesn't have many Rangers sources. It's usually stuff which makes no sense. The Rangers would sign Kadri in the summer of 2022 when the Rangers didn’t have that type of cap space or the Rangers would trade for Kane and sign him to an extension. A pre-hip resurfacing surgery Kane. The extension wouldn’t have been a one year deal or a cheap deal. The Rangers don't have that type of money.

Frank's salary cap stuff is a joke. He always predicts a higher cap when the NHL already made a deal with the NHLPA for cap increases after the players paid off their Covid debt.

According to Frank, the Ducks want three picks to retain money on Henrique. 2nd and two 3rd's to retain 50%. He said "reportedly".

Is the trade a 2nd and two third round picks for Henrique at 50%?

The Rangers have one second in 24 and one third left in 26 in the the next three years. The other 2nd's and 3rd's are already gone.

His theory is the Rangers trade Kakko's $2.1M so the Ducks don't need to retain on Henrique.

We should trade for Blais, Lemieux, and DeAngelo
