Has Chychrun had any concussions? I know he has had quite a few injuries not sure if any of his upper body ones were concussions.

I'm not in love with the idea of trading Kakko. Never have been.

It's counterproductive for several reasons which has been discussed. The kid isn't as ineffective as a lot of fans make him out to be (see below) - however despite that - his cost is relatively low to the team for what he provides on both sides of the puck - and he can be easily extended and break the cap.

He's not having a great season but to me its really silly to give up on him for a rental when this team is flawed in so many other ways.

Been noting this with Laf and Kakko the past year and half.

I also believe there is an added bonus to being a regular PP1 (or PK/on the ice with EN) guy that isn't just extra points on your stat list raising you up into the "elite" or "star" echelons.

Its that its much easier to avoid long stretches without a point or goal. Any forward at all levels of hockey loves to produce. When you fall into long droughts it can have a spiral effect. We've seen it with these kids, especially Kakko. Much easier to avoid those with reg special teams time. Difficult to quantify but it does carry over into 5on5.
YUP.

chychrun sucks, overrated. he's a reason why ottawa bleeds goals against.

no middle of the road player like him or lindholm (both overrated) change this team. if im drury i tell the room its pretty much all on you guys to right this ship, ill get you a minor piece or 2, but you all need to be better and play to your potential if were gonna go anywhere

He might be a little overrated but sucks is a bridge too far. I like him and I think he would fit with Fox. He has a little bit of Trouba Syndrome where he shoots too much from the blueline rather than keeping the cycle going.

Of Ottawas 4 best pairings this year with 100 minutes or more, Chychrun has been on 2 of them.

He and Sanderson combined for a xGA/60 under 2.

Chabot-Chychrun is a 2.23.

For context - Lindgren-Fox is at 2.31.

Our "best" pair in this regard is Schneider-Gus (2.25)

They're bleeding goals against because their goalies are ass.

It'll be interesting what kind of an approach/strategy he will take at the deadline. Year 1 was about adding complementary pieces. Last year was about going for the big fish. Does he pull back or go for broke even more?

The hardest thing to understand about these dmen like Trouba and Chcyhrun who shoot too much is that no coach ever tells them to stop.

100%. The Sens bleed goals against because their goalies are awful. 3 goalies in the bottom 10 of goals saved above expected.

Chychrun is also playing his off-side. He would look amazing paired with Fox IMO. We would have him at an affordable cap hit for one more year, then we can decide what to do with Chychrun, Miller, and Trouba. I assume we can only afford to keep two.

The players we need so not get traded.

We need a big bodied mean SOB with skill that can play 1RW. We need a big mean SOB to play 1LD who has enough skill and awareness to let fox do his thing

Problem is all our core guys are soft as shit.
Zib
Kreider
Fox
Panarin
Miller
Laf
Kakko

Or too small to really be that guy
Lindgren

And the guys who have that grit kinda suck
Trouba
Goodrow

And even our better prospects are not really big enough to move the needle on the big grit sandpaper area that could possibly play up in the lineup

Perrault
Berard
Sykora

It is a huge organizational problem and has been.

We never draft players with size who are actually good.

We are so one dimensional with soft, perimeter players.

Its why i really hope someone like Chmelar can end up good enough to be on the second line. He has size and speed, but i just sont know if he will make it.

Our top 6 desperately needs SIZE WITH SKILL. Not just skill.

Edit: we might have one with Cuylle, but we need at least one more.

Sounds like Lindgren

Yeah with the main differences being that Chychrun is actually good and Lindgren has avoided missing a ton of time considering how often he gets blown up.

Then again, he's probably played through shit in the past that he shouldn't have tried to play through and its entirely possible that we're seeing it catch up to him.

I don't believe he does the "go for broke" route. Rangers went into the season knowing this was the last chance for this "core" go win a cup.....and I believe his intent is to start reshaping the roster as soon as the full NMC/NTC contracts became partials. I have no doubt that we will see changes come the offseason, some of which will probably surprise some people.

While I think our coaching is better this season I think this is the weakest team we have had in a while in other ways. Agree or disagree?
Yes but really because the 1C has regressed badly, the 1LW just vibes a lot, and the 1LD has broken down. The whole 2nd pairing has been ass.

Your best guys gotta be your best guys.

Bottom six, depth guys, whatever, thats all annoying and occupies peoples time for bad reasons but in the end is just window dressing.

Lindgren is an offseason move
The guys love him and he’s a warrior
IMO they are all basically off-season moves.
Teams that are out of it/tanking aren't interested right now so wait until you've got the whole league interested in bidding and know who owns what # draft picks.
