Switch up the pairs and we will see I guess. Doesnt change the fact that we need to upgrade the top 4 in some way. I've been saying that Miller should play with Fox since the summer. He has been with Trouba literally his entire career and this is the worst he has looked by far. Look back at my posting history and you'll see that I have always been a big Miller defender. But its time for him to grow up and play better if the plan is to give him an 8 mil extension in a year and a half.
Put Trouba in a ship, sail it halfway out, and torpedo it.

That's the only way.

Will it be Fox's fault when Miller continues firing point shots into defenders skates and throwing blind passes to the middle of the ice? Just want to anticipate where the goal posts are moving. This guy shouldn't be so immune to criticism when he is failing in such an important role for us.

They can't do that now. In the summer for sure. Blaming him for all the world's ills until then isnt doing anything for us.

Trading guys like Kakko and Miller is a huge mistake. The team has 3 players between the ages of 25-29. Fox Lindgren and Shesterkin. Kakko is 22 years old, Miller is 24. Trading these players for more established, high cost talent is going to end up setting the team back, costing assets, and make it difficult to address other roster flaws. The smarter move is to let them develop and add cheaper, shorter term fixes for this season and then reassess in the offseason. Moving them in a hockey trade for another long term asset is easier and more palatable for teams in the offseason. It’s more short sighted thinking.

Because what will happen is they’ll trade them, the players they acquire will be good but they won’t be able to retain them or they’ll be forced to move others in order to do so, and the team still won’t win the Cup.

He is directly responsible for a lot of our problems and several statistics bare out this fact. And in an era where we question the team's heart and intensity basically every night, he rightfully gets hammered with that as the "leader" whether I agree with that or not.

Miller isn't immune to criticism, he's just demonstrably better than his partner and the talk of what a bum he is needs to consider that fact. Yes Miller is bad at getting shots through but what is the alternative? Work on his shot and see if it improves or pass it to Trouba who will be a guaranteed shot block right out of our zone?

That won't happen. If Miller plays with Fox and he still sucks, then he sucks. Everyone bringing it up will say that. I know everyone bringing it up pretty well, and nobody has a pro-Miller agenda. It's about understanding how bad Trouba is and that everyone he plays with can't be fairly judged.

Then we'll just suck this year I guess, because he's much worse than you think he is. You can say it's "blaming him for all the world's ills" but like, yeah, you can't have a player that bad playing in your top 4.

Miller has flaws, but there's no way he's not a top 4 defenseman in the NHL. Like, maybe in an ideal world, you want him to be #4, but there's no way he's not top 4. There's not enough defenseman better than him to make that claim.

Trouba is a #7 playing as a #1 (over a Norris winner!!) and we're talking about K'Andre Miller. We're missing the forest for the trees again.

This org doesn't care about the Cup. Obviously they wouldn't complain if a blue moon wonder struck but... The ideal scenario is to reach the ECF every season without fail because that's what generates the most revenue over time and the fans can say oooh aaaah we're almost there. To build a winner you have to sacrifice a handful of seasons to stock up on talent, which means the profits take a big hit and such dips in income are incompatible with the business plan.

The time to put Igor on the block was after he dragged us to the ECF. Could you imagine that return?
You know the way goalie value is, they actually might get more from him now. This is like the only time in the cap era that there seems to be high goalie demand

Im not defending Trouba. I agree with the criticism of him. He is Captain by default and his play has been uneven on his best days as Rangers.

But as for Miller, why doesnt he take the puck down the wall and try to make a play? Lindgren tries it all the time when there is no shot and he is barely 6 feet tall. K'Andre could be a star even with a bad partner if he didnt play at 3/4 speed all the time. No urgency to his game.

It's not always a good play. Lindgren does it because he lacks the vision to do anything from up high and he ends up turning the puck over anyway.

Trouba also doesnt force Miller yto pinch at bad times, make bad passes, and other poor decisions, fail to keep the puck in at the line.

They are a horrible pair together.

But then again with Millers sometimes reckless style of play, he needs a true stay st home defender. That is not fox. Im not sure miller is that easy of a dman to play well with.

I sure as hell dont want fox with him. I dont want fox to have to try to cover up for millers bad pinches or stop being aggressive bc miller is a loose canon on the other end.

Yeah and I'm saying Miller should be processing the game at a level that allows him to decide what is and isnt a good play. I have not seen that from him at all this year. He has more Instagram posts than points in the last month. He hasnt been the same player since he spit on Doughty. I commend him for at least admitting he is having a bad year, but at a certain point his play on the ice needs to improve.

Imagine thinking Miller is bad at pinching lol.

You guys remember the one that failed and forget the 10 that were successful before it.

You know who is actually bad at pinching? The other 2 bozo's who aren't fox in the top 4.
This is like when people bring up finishing the one time we hit the post and forget that we scored 10 goals on 2.11 xG the two games before.

There's absolutely no way they get more value for him now.

It’s a feeding frenzy for keepers right now. Maybe a bit of hyperbole here, but goalie almost never return fair value. This year might be the exception

Igor still carries decent value even with the year hes having.

The Vezina carries weight and he's been a rock in the playoffs. I don't think the FO has the balls to move on from him (though I don't know how Dru feels about goalies. Some GMs care, some don't.) for brand value alone but there will be several teams out there with a cup worthy roster that will fall short because their goalie shits his pants and would jump at the opportunity to get Igor.

They would have gotten a f***ing treasure trove of goodies had they traded him after his Vezina season (which wasn't realistically happening.) They wouldn't get that now or even in a few months if he were to bounce back strong.

They'd still do pretty well though, even if he continues to flounder. Player value is really carried by reputation. It's why we got a 1st+ for Rick Nash.

They can get multiple good assets for Igor this summer even if he doesnt bounce back in a major way the rest of this year. He is the easiest member of this core group to move, and he is no Henrik. I certainly dont want to pay him like Hank.

Trust me, with the corporate sponsorship being what it is, this team is not going to lose money.

Its funny that we are talking about trading Igor. I mean, i've never believed he was all world. A decent goaltender, yes, but not all world.

So i ask, if we trade Igor, who we going with for the next couple years.....J Quick?? LOL

That trade was amazing.

Even though Lindgren is annoying, it's an objective plus that he turned into NHL value.
