Seems like we need to stay consistent and trade for Tyler Motte again this year. It's about that time of year where we acquire him, no?

I like Drake Batherson.

Vancouver had the Hunter kid who is having a very season. Right-handed. 3rd round pick. Vancouver made a good pick. Calgary wanted him in the trade.

The Finnish kid was a 3rd round pick in 2020.

So much for Kuzmenko going to Chicago,

Jim Rutherford likes making his trades early. In 2005, he acquired Doug Weight from the Blues before the deadline. He didn't wait until the deadline. He made a trade for Hagelin from Anaheim in January after his trade from the Rangers the previous summer.

Batherson would be a good target. Ottawa has a lot of money tired up in their F group and it hasn’t been working so maybe they would be looking at Kakko plus

Im doubtful Batherson is available without an overpay, Kakko wouldn't be it, he's a part of their core and they seem happy with him.
Imo we are gonna have to let this year slide a bit unfortunately, we need Othmann and company to take spots on this team and need our goalie to figure it out. I'm not saying throw in the towel but just not expend a bunch of assets.

Sign Kessel, trade for a good 3c, add a depth D and just see how that all works. Just don't dump a bunch of assets in a year our goalie is average and Zibanejad can't find the net.

I dont wanna trade for Tarasenko or Kane, like we know how this ends with those guys nothing against them but they didnt put us over the top last year, i can't imagine a year older we'd be wise to throw even more assets at them, i feel like I'm eating crazy pills.

Lol what?

Splurging on veteran players when they were in no position to be doing so hurt this team.
Not developing our forward draft picks killed this team. Everyone from Lafreniere, Kakko, Chytil, and even Kravtsov and Anderson were all NHL level players that we either delayed or derailed with our win now mentality. It started the day they drafted them, they kept saying "this player is NHL ready" and whether they believed it or not at the time it wasn't true and they should have known that later.

That was because of the coach. Right? RIGHT???? :D

Look I love Kakko, and don't really care for Zegras and his antics. But here are some notes:

- Zegras is a center, Kakko is a winger
- Zegras has reached 60 points twice, Kakko has reached 40 points once
- Zegras is still under contract for two more years, at not a terrible cap hit of less than 6mil per. Kakko is an RFA, albeit with a cheap QO.

You can like Kakko all you want and hate Zegras all you want, but those are the facts.
Well on the bright side the next assist will double KK's season total :D

LOL I'm sorry I just can;t understand how KK only has 1 assist in 28 games. Its almost like he could try to never pass the puck and still end up with more than 1 assist in 28 games on rebounds alone. What a strange season for him. I'm rooting for the kid but he really needs to produce soon.

Ottawa and the Rangers are a good match in trades. Sens put themselves in cap hell paying every young player they have, now they have to pay Pinto and Chychrun coming up. I'm very interested in putting together a package for one or both of them. Im a fan of Mathieu Joseph for the bottom 6 as well, even if he's not a center. In my viewings hes fast and physical and plays with an edge. No interest in Tarasenko. If he was willing to take a discount he'd probably be here in lieu of Wheelchair.

You think I made up the kakko being shopped thing? Buddy it’s been all over the news today

And he did show up out of shape are you kidding me. He was slow he was pushed around like never before got thrown off pucks like a rag doll and he did absolutely nothing for 20 games until he sure enough got thrown down and got hurt. He has in every interview since talked about spending a lot of time having to work out. This isn’t rocket science I’m not Sherlock Holmes.
Yes, because what's been all over the news is a report from Darren Dreger - I mean come the f*** on here, when has he last broken Rangers news? - saying Drury was listening on Kakko. That's not the same as shopping a player, and you and I both know it. Same goes with the out of shape thing, it's your opinion that you keep trying to pass off as fact without any basis besides your own observations. He trains all offseason with Rantanen and was one of the only people that looked like they actually prepared during the preseason. There were no reports of poor conditioning either after all of the off-ice testing. That stuff makes it into the public sphere like it did with Brendan Smith if it's actually there. Either way, let's just leave it there because it's not worth going back and forth on it when we won't agree.

Where we will agree is that moving him does make sense given how it's gone for him this season. I just think it makes more sense to try to swap him for other age-matched players that will fit this core better. It's why I keep saying Phil Tomasino and why I've mentioned Cole Sillinger last month. Both fit the team way better going forward since they're both C/W and can fill support roles long-term next to Kreider and Zibanejad

Im with you that the core has talented enough players to win a Cup but the bottom line is the team is very soft. Too soft to win anything. There is no magic bullet trade that is going to make the core guys play in a straight line when the fancy bullshit fails. They need to go for it but the blame rests on every guy in that locker room who wears a letter. It's not been close to good enough. Too many guys who dont want to lead from the front.
And I think that's where the point gets misinterpreted too many times by fans. Brooks isn't suggesting acquiring another Goodrow, but look at what Vegas did. They brought in Barbashev, a guy with skill who plays in straight lines and will go to the tough areas of the ice come playoff time to create and score.

I don't think they need to play 1-3-1. It's not a good system for this group. They have enough trouble with opposing transitions and gaps as it is playing 1-2-2.
Nobody questioned the system the first two months. See, it always comes back to the players. It isn't coaching. They have players that aren't fully committed. You see how they came out like gangbusters in second against Ottawa and decided to get serious and ran them? They can do that to teams. You'd be hard-pressed to find better talent on other teams, but like many have said, you have two guys wearing A's and one has been here ten years and wanted nothing to do with the C, and the other is his best buddy that is very monotone and quiet. They were forced to make Trouba captain because too many of these guys need constant wake up calls.

I think adding those players is a must, esp one that can play between Cuylle & KK. Brodz is not the guy and since KK has been put on that line you can see his been better. A) he's been setting up Cuylle for a good amount of grade A chances in the last 2 games. B) he's driving to the net and cashing in the last two game. I think that line needs a guy that can drive to the net and have a shoot first mentality. I just don't think any of those players are available esp for what the NYR have. I think a guy like Jenner could work but I wonder if JD has the same feels as JG towards NYR. Other than that maybe guys like Gourde, Hayton, but who knows what they would cost and if those teams would move either of them. I'd still look to upgrade pitlick w/a guy like Duhaime, or a guy like Danfourth(who could move Goodrow back to wing).

They desperately need a guy like that in the middle 6. Doesnt need to be a big time scorer but a guy who can create offense for himself and his teammates by driving the net and forechecking hard.

Dowd, Sturm, Kunin, Kuraly types. Sissons, Gourde, Hartman on the higher end.

Joseph would be a good pick up, cost wise though I'm not sure. They were trying to trade him at the first of the season and didn't go through with it.
