#26, the sickest of 'em all.
lol in what world is MacKinnon top 20 at anything
Speed probably, but so what? Not top 20 at anything else.

Yes.
Or you can trade everyone who's over 27, or has trade protection, or a contract that ends when they're 28-32. : SARCASM :
Either or, really.
man, do I really need to put a sarcasm emoji on that latter part?
Speed probably, but so what? Not top 20 at anything else.
I think the attraction (other than his speed/skills) is that he is a 52-63 point guy at age 21 but there is no guarantee that goes up.
These damn thread titles... Now I know something is up.
Continue.
If MacKinnon was a Ranger, you better believe people would be pegging that point total to go up.
(see: Vesey, Jimmy or Zibanejad, Mika)
We tend overrate our own players, and underrate those around the league.

If you watch him play a handful of games, he absolutely has the potential to go way up. He's easily 80 points a year if you put him on a functional well coached team with 3 balanced lines of offense.
I don't know why I'm even bothering, but why not?
Because some of them are over the age of 24
Well I can understand the notion of having some youth on the team. Ideally our team is made up of these young players soon.

They're not all kids. One of them is Zuccarello now. Easy mistake to make.
Is it too late to waive him???![]()
Yeah he's 29 now; that makes him 74 in HF years![]()
Canes backend is just stupid good with Faulk, Slaavin, and now Pesce locked up long-term on great contracts
Moves can also be made during the season (shocking I know!) so going into a season with some holes in the lineup doesn't mean the team should just fold immediately and sell off all its assets
Yeah but you don't take guys like Pesce in the 3rd round though.
Yeah. I don't see why we can't be successful with this group. Our defense is leaps and bounds better and I think the net gains in our defense outweigh the net loss in our C depth.
The narrative is that if you can not guarantee a cup (which no team can) then don't try to win this season or anytime soon. Instead pretend to be a NHL GM and trade everyone above age 27 for young guys and draft picks. The this team can not win notion was said repeatedly in Sept-Oct-Nov 2013 and we ended up in the cup finals.

What's the joke here? I wasn't on the boards then, but it always stings looking back and seeing him go right after Tambellini.
Hindsight is 20/20
LOL we....do I do that?
I think we tend to overrate some and underrate others. Sometimes we bash guys a lot then a year later we say we would like them back.![]()
I mean to be fair, I could see his numbers going up anywhere else away from Colorado. We turned Holden into a 34 point dman
Holden's 34 points were dumb luck via absurd sh%
Lucky for us, I'm pretty sure the majority of GMs won't see it that way, which helps Gorton.
