I don't want to say you guys are overvaluing Skjei but it sure looks like you are.
Nathan M is a top 20 center in the league. Is Skjei a top 20 defenseman?
I suspect Colorado would laugh at that offer. Sakic is going to be asking for McDonagh in a Duchene deal. They might take Skjei, but not for MacKinnon.
The Rangers are not winning with this group.
lol in what world is MacKinnon top 20 at anything
We should just offer sheet Sakic.![]()
The Rangers are not winning with this group. A successful season is the young players taking the next step. Zibanejad. Buchnevich. Vesey. Skjei. Miller. Hayes. At least one of the young D becoming an NHL player. ADA. Pionk. Bereglazov. Move Miller back to center? Management wants Miller at center. Give Andersson the 9 game look see and send him back to Sweden or maybe the AHL. Frolonda most likely. The best answers at center are internal options. Miller. Andersson. Chytil. Short and long term. It's not a coincidence the Rangers used both #1 picks on centers.
I don't know why I'm even bothering, but why not?

Yeah. I don't see why we can't be successful with this group. Our defense is leaps and bounds better and I think the net gains in our defense outweigh the net loss in our C depth.

Yawn, another season decided before it starts...why even play??
Clearly they are going to go 0-82.
Sakic was incredible.
Totally OTS, but its a quick story worth telling.
So back in 2001 the Avs played the Devils for the Cup. I was 22 and in-between semesters working at the Ice House in Hackensack. The Avs had a few closed practices there during the final, but since I was working there I got to hang out and watch.
They were working on some PP drills. Sakic was set up and he launched one of his patented wristers that just missed the crossbar. It hit the glass behind the net and it exploded. It was the loudest sound that I ever heard out of a hockey rink.
But once I got over to clean it up, I understood why. He actually shattered two panes of glass with one shot. If you've ever been to Ice House they have 4 rinks lined up with a huge lobby. There is a behind-the-net view of each rink and they are adjacent to each other. The lobby glass is about 6-7 feet away from rink's glass and he had enough velocity on his shot to go through both panes. We found the puck by a wall next to the main entrance that is 20 or so feet from the glass.
With a wrist shot.

This is conditional on Zibanejad stepping up, Hayes stepping up, and Miller moving to C, or Andersson surprising and breaking the roster.
No guarantees that Girardi(-) and Shattenkirk(+) cancels out Stepan (-).
It's not unfair to believe that, at best, this team made net-lateral movements in the off-season. Address one weakness and potentially create another. That being said, net-lateral still makes this team a contender, and I don't think it's crazy to believe that this team can win.
Moves can also be made during the season (shocking I know!) so going into a season with some holes in the lineup doesn't mean the team should just fold immediately and sell off all its assets
Yes.
Or you can trade everyone who's over 27, or has trade protection, or a contract that ends when they're 28-32.
Either or, really.
Why? My EHM teams were always successful.Or not run a team like it's ehm
