Shesterkin let in 10 goals combined in games 3 & 4 vs PIT and was pulled from both. Game one OT winner vs CAR. Shesterkin had his share of weak goals he let in. The thing is the goalie is the last line of defense, the opponent needs to get through 5 other guys. The Penguins as a whole had their issues defensively. Domingue came in cold as a back up and gave the Penguins a chance. He won't make a lot. Cap hit will be low. He got some valuable playoff experience against a team that went to the ECF. Rangers could do a lot worse.

Domingue was awful in that series, he isnt a better option than even Keith Kinkaid

Vince new article says the Rangers have a 2 year bridge with Kakko basically agreed to but are haggling over money between 2-2.5 mil. Mentions Stastny & D. Strome as stopgap center options. Also we are very interested in bringing Motte back.
I hope this iant true. Stopgap to what though. Usually a stopgap is for when the team has a can't-miss prospect that isn't ready yet.

Rangers have absolutely nobody in the organization to one day crack an NHL lineup as a center. Mcconnell-Barker maybe one day. Not someone you get a stopgap to bridge to.

Rangers should absolutely not be wasting time on stopgap. They should be going after PLD or another young center that can grow with the core and also contribute now.

Kakko bridge, I'm nervous about. Rangers are historically chicken shit to just sign their own guys. Kakko could sign a bridge deal, break out, and then promptly price him self off the team a year later.

I agree completely. Center is the place to make a significant investment, even if it costs you some depth on defense and the wings down the road.

When the cap is higher and they have the option to move some of the guys who have big deals.

Kreider and Troubas NMC's turn into limited NTCs in 2 years IIRC. That+ and increased cap= space to add guys.

Committing to an imperfect option now is how you get into the trouble we're in now. Panarin should have never been signed when he was.

I get that he's exaggerating to prove a point, but wow Kyle Davidson is really speedrunning the teardown.

Lots of easy points next season for Chicago's opponents.
I really hope they do not get Michkov or Bedard.

If Kane wants to come to NYR and only NYR for this upcoming year, then I really do wonder how cheaply he could be had. People are so against it because it's the idea of moving Chytil or Kakko but if it's something like

Cuylle+Lundkvist+1st
you do it no questions asked.

Part of the issue with taking on his cap hit (even at 50%) is that you're going to have to get rid of a contract or two to make it work with any bit of flexibility. That's where adding a potential dump of Nemeth and Chytil/Kakko's roughly $2-2.5M actually makes it fit better.

The reality is the Rangers simply have extremely little flexibility in the contracts they can move to make space. It's Nemeth, Reaves, Chytil, Kakko, or Goodrow. That's really it.

Lol we are all kidding ourselves if we dont believe that the NHL wont cheat for Chicago to get bedard next season. Bettman and the NHL did it for the Pens when they got Crosby, Malkin, Staal, and Fluery. 4 years straight of top 3 picks basically.

Chicago will get the same treatment. This isnt arizona or newly minted seattle. This is chicago, an original 6 franchise. The NHL will not let them wallow away in nothingness. They helped save Pittsburgh, they will do the same with Chicago.
