I want to avoid Kane because I think he kind of sucks, couldn't point to the defensive zone on a diagram, and hasn't made enough of an effort to break a sweat since 2016.

The 7 years is an issue. $5.5M might be a little higher than the Rangers can afford to pay. Closer to $5M than $5.5M. The Rangers are also looking at the summer of 2023 when KAM and Lafreniere will be a group II free agents.

First of all, read my 2nd line where I say they shouldn't give the farm to get him.

The desire to add Patrick Kane is Neil Smith level asset management.

Shesterkin let in 10 goals combined in games 3 & 4 vs PIT and was pulled from both. Game one OT winner vs CAR. Shesterkin had his share of weak goals he let in. The thing is the goalie is the last line of defense, the opponent needs to get through 5 other guys. The Penguins as a whole had their issues defensively. Domingue came in cold as a back up and gave the Penguins a chance. He won't make a lot. Cap hit will be low. He got some valuable playoff experience against a team that went to the ECF. Rangers could do a lot worse.

We don't need that much talent on our 4th line. Just get replacement level players.

Hunt, Brodzinski, and Motte were fine. It's when we choose to play Rooney and Reaves because they do stuff that the problems start.

You can sign proven vet depth players at a bargain price. Happens every year, especially the last couple with the flat cap.

There are going to be a ton of them available on Wednesday who can be had for very cheap.

Johan Larsson is someone I have an eye on personally.
