When the cap is higher and they have the option to move some of the guys who have big deals.

Kreider and Troubas NMC's turn into limited NTCs in 2 years IIRC. That+ and increased cap= space to add guys.

Committing to an imperfect option now is how you get into the trouble we're in now. Panarin should have never been signed when he was.

Right. The stopgap would be for when Trouba or Kreider is moved and we can afford a 2C.

Yeah not trading premium assets for Kane. I’ll toss them a second for Toews though.

With Chicago gutting their team and accepting what they did for Debrincat, if Kane only wants to come to NY, I am not offering a premium package.

Yeah for real.

I get that the rules are different when you're trading away a franchise player but f that, Kane gets to pick his spot and I'm tossing conditions on to a 1st if it's getting moved.

Our sights should really be set elsewhere though.

Chicago is trying to tank hard for Bedard.

They deserve nothing but hardship for eternity.
I, for one, welcome Bedard going out to the western conference. Would rather him in Chicago than anywhere in the East, even if Chicago is the worst.

Free agency loomng gotta wonder who they are looking at for a backup?

Wall wasen't signed. Kinkaid is a UFA. So is Huska. Currently its just Shestorkin and Lindbom.

whoever will take (closest to) vet minimum is who they will target.

I do not condone trading for Kane.... but he has a $2.9M salary. Get a 3rd team that needs to get to the cap floor involved. 1/3rd of $2.9M is doable for the College team.

Chicago eats 50% for pennies on the dollar
AZ eats 50% for Hajek+?

I dont even know if that's legal.

Kane @ $2.65M is more tolerable and allows for a Stastny or Motte type signing.

Has Colin White been discussed much? Might be more 3C than 2C, but could probably be had on a short term "prove it" contract. Could go either way between LT asset or ST stop gap.

It is legal.

It's going to cost more than that but it is totally legal and has happened before.

Less than 48hrs to sign our RFAs. Offer sheets are coming this year. Drury better retain the kids.

How much do you want to bet that they aren't coming?

This is said, quite literally, every single year. They aren't coming. There will be no offer sheets
they may come
(i do hate the way offer sheets are discussed here at HFB,
as if making the offer means it will be signed)

but i genuinely don't believe Kakko is a guy who will sign one
he is comfortable here,
and where else does he lineup opposite Bread, or Kreider/Zib, if not Laf
he has confidence in himself, and in his development
