True, but 14 goals in 50 games last season.

With these non-QO'd players, they're all dented cans...would you roll the dice on a 1yr deal hoping maybe this could be an outlier year where he plays 70 games? Still only 27...these are the kinda gambles that could payoff.

If Kane wants to come to NYR and only NYR for this upcoming year, then I really do wonder how cheaply he could be had. People are so against it because it's the idea of moving Chytil or Kakko but if it's something like

you do it no questions asked.

If Kakko prices himself off the team, that means we had a productive Kakko. Maybe even a cup winning Kakko.

That doesn't mean anything. All it means is making the cap crunch worse.

When the cap is higher and they have the option to move some of the guys who have big deals.

Kreider and Troubas NMC's turn into limited NTCs in 2 years IIRC. That+ and increased cap= space to add guys.

Committing to an imperfect option now is how you get into the trouble we're in now. Panarin should have never been signed when he was.

For the record I am not in favor of adding any big contract center. The closest thing to that, that I would add is Dubois. But he's still young.

I don't want to add Miller, Malkin, Strome (neither one), Stastny. I'd prefer a long term actual solution. Committing to Dubois long term is fine by me because we have absolutely nothing in the system at the center position. He turned 24 in June and has two 60 point seasons. Chytil for reference turns 23 before the season starts and his career high is 23 points. Only a year and some months older than Chytil and already has borderline 1C seasons under his belt, and has history with Panarin.

But if it's not a player like Dubois, I don't really have interest. No team wins a Cup or multiple Cups with a revolving door of mediocrity at 2C.

I don't understand how this organization has consistently failed for decades to address the need to draft and develop centers.

He'd be a cheap, diet version of a Vatrano replacement. He's had so many significant injuries though recently, so teams will probably be scared off by his medical reports

He's coming off a 1/1.25 deal in Toronto.

Not saying he's my first choice of course, but would you do say 1/1.5?
